Things really have changed over the course of the past three decades with regards to home and business security systems and the components that are in them. It was back in the early nineteen-seventies that they first became readily available from well established security providers such as ADT. Things have only improved since then and now they are more sophisticated, reliable and at the same time far more affordable.

Prior to ADT entering the business of providing home security systems to home owners across the planet, the reliability of security systems was questionable at best and for the criminal who had done his homework, security systems were merely a speed bump that had to be dealt with while engaging in their chosen profession.

Back then all that was needed to bypass a top of the line security system was a few tools that could be easily had at the local hardware store for around fifty bucks and that was it. For the past three decades however, ADT research and development engineers have been hard at work and they have produced very tangible results.

With new high tech systems and components that have been developed, a home security system that back then consisted basically of trip switches on windows and doors that were hard wired to an alarm on the side of the building, has now become a new multi-layered security system.

Back in the early days before ADT arrived in the picture, a simple clip of a small wire was all that was needed and a security system could be neutralized but now new modern systems have a separate security system that actually protects the main security system. Also, with the new philosophy of multi-layered security for your home, the area of protection extends outside the actual dwelling to a thirty-five foot security perimeter, that completely wraps around your home or business.

This is accomplished with high tech, state of the art body heat and motion detectors that are impossible to detect after they have been concealed. Now the alarm system will be activated before the intruder even has a chance to reach his or her target and there are no chance of false alarms, because this new technology can easily differentiate between man and animal, such as cats and dogs.

The next layer of security is at every opening to the residence or business, where every window and door is armed with state of the art wireless trip triggers, that are also impossible to detect when properly concealed. Because they are wireless, there is no wire that can be cut and every three years each component will signal the control panel to let it know that they are running low, so there is never a dead battery.

Still yet another layer of security, consists of indoor body heat and motion detectors that are concealed inside the building or home. The total system is also backed up by an auxiliary power source that can run the system for weeks if the main power is shut off. While to some people this much security might seem to be overkill, the folks at ADT feel that when it comes to their family of customer's safety, there can never be too much security.
