If you don't have a home security system in your home in this day and age then you are simply taking chances for no good reason. The fact is that prices have steadily fallen over the past decade, as technological advances have greatly improved their effectiveness. Not only that, but most home owners insurance carriers will now give discounts of up to twenty percent if your system is installed by one of the recognized names in home security that are available.
People so often think of insurance as some type of policy or plan that will pay them money after they have been damaged and that is why everyone has home owners insurance of one form or another. Having a home security system on your home is just like having insurance but in this case it prevents you from being damaged in the first place.
Home security systems now come loaded with features and functions that can cover your home in a complete blanket of security, that actually begins outside of the building. Using state of the art body heat and motion detectors a thirty-five foot security perimeter can now be established around a home or business, that will immediately sound the alarm if anyone should enter it after the alarm has been set.
These sensors are so precise, that they easily tell the difference between a man and any type of animals, such as dogs or cats, so there is never a chance of a false alarm. Of course alarm triggers are still installed on doors and windows, but now they can be wireless, so there is absolutely no wire to cut or bypass. They are battery powered but don't worry about the batteries running dead, because they last up to three years and will send a signal to the control panel when they run low.
It is the new technology in sensors that has enabled security systems to do so much more now for a home owner and two of these options are fire detection and carbon monoxide detection. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that kills people each year and it is emitted by gas heating systems. It has no smell or color, so it is impossible to detect without a security system that has the necessary sensors.
The great thing about a monitored system, is that they not only wake up and notify the people in the home if there is an emergency but the monitoring person ell also call the proper authorities at the same time. The fact is that during a real emergency most people are completely focused on saving their family member and themselves and many times don't have the time to use the telephone.
Older style security systems all required that a person run to a panel and type in a code as soon as they entered the home but with new security technology a system can now be activated and deactivated with a small clicker that fits on a key chain just like the clicker that operates the alarm system on a car.
