Hidden Nanny Cams Can Save Your Baby

Don’t be scared at the results that hidden nanny cams can bring.  Either you will find that your baby is safe at home or you will find out that your nanny should be fired.  But, don’t wait to find out what your nanny is capable of doing.  If used properly, your nanny cam can show you exactly what’s happening with your child when you’re not home.  If you use them from the time you hire your nanny, you can catch any weird behavior before it becomes a problem.

According to NBC’s affiliate, Channel 6 in South Florida, 29-year-old nanny, Claudia Muro was up to no good.  The NBC article posted online on October 13, 2003 stated that, “Bret and Jennifer Schwartz, of Hollywood, said they became suspicious when their daughter would begin squirming and crying whenever she was handed to Muro. The parents installed hidden cameras inside their home as a precaution,” (NBC).

It turns out that Muro was being abusive to their daughter when they were not there to monitor what was happening.  The results of the video were shocking to the Schwartz parents and anyone with any kind of compassion, “The video shows Muro shaking the baby, and in other parts of the tape, lifting the child over her head and repeatedly slamming her onto the kitchen floor,” (NBC).  The Schwartz family was devastated.  However, because they had this video footage, Muro was arrested and prosecuted.  This type of video recording can be so useful to police.  It is much easier to prove child abuse when there is video footage of the abuse.

If the Schwartz family would have invested in this technology upon Muro’s employment with them, they might have been able to stop the abuse from the start.  This is not to point a finger at the Schwartz family, but the technology is available and so easy to use that it could have saved them so much heartache.  Fortunately the baby did end up being okay and Muro was obviously fired.  However, this horrible ordeal could have been avoided or stopped short quickly.

This is a scary situation, and should have been avoided because the family did thoroughly investigate the nanny before hiring her.  “The family said they hired Muro thru an agency, and that they hired a private investigator to conduct a separate background check on the Peruvian native. Jennifer Schwartz said she even stayed home with the nanny and baby for two months before returning to work,” (NBC).

This case of the Schwartz baby is great evidence that it can be hard to trust anyone, even if they seem to be responsible and able to fill the position as nanny to your children.  This case is not meant to scare mothers and fathers into paranoia, but to create an awareness that could save the lives of babies everywhere.  This affordable technology can create so much comfort for parents that it’s now essential to parenting.
