An ADT alarm system is the best on the market. An ADT home security alarm can help protect your loved ones.
You may believe that home security is something out of your reach because of price. In reality, making your home more secure can be very affordable. All you have to do is make your home look like it will be a hard target so that any potential burglars will avoid your location and move on to something else.
One of the most common things that you will hear suggested in order to deter thieves is getting a dog. Even if you’re unable to get one for some reason, you can still make it look like you have one. Beware of Dog signs can be found in most home improvement stores. A large plastic bowl left outside in plain sight and a chain secured in the front yard can give the illusion that you not only own a dog, but a big dog. All of the options mentioned can be purchased for just a few dollars each. You may also want to consider getting a home security sign to place on your lawn and / or in one of your windows. Even though you don’t have the system, a would-be burglar may see the sign and decide not to take a chance. Home security signs aren’t quite as easy to obtain as the ‘beware of dog’ signs are. A bit of searching online should bring up a small selection that you can choose from.
Another cheap and easy to obtain item that most people don’t think about getting is a fake security camera. You can find such a camera online for about twenty dollars. Don’t worry about how it looks, a quick glance at it should be all it takes to change a burglar’s mind. Most aren’t willing to risk getting caught on tape, so they won’t risk it. Motion detection lights are also an option, albeit a bit more expensive than the others that have been mentioned thus far. The lights normally last a good while, offsetting the expense. As soon as someone comes within range of the sensor, they’ll trigger it and the lights will come on. They generally require little maintenance, can be easy to install by yourself, and may be just enough to scare off a skittish thief thinking of checking out your house.
One final step you can take to make your home safer and less likely to be hit is to go outside and take a walk around the property. Look for places that someone could hide, and take steps to either remove the item or make it so that they can’t be used as a hiding place. Trim unruly shrubs and bushes so that they don’t provide cover. Check all of the windows and doors to make sure that they are locks and secure. Look at it as if you were trying to break in, and take care of anything that sticks out. While it’s not quite as effective as buying and installing a home security system, taking these measure will help make your house appear to be a hard target for anyone that checks it out.
