Incorporation of other non-lethal weapons into police lights is also being considered. Studies are being made in integrating acoustic or sonic weapons to police lights that can momentarily incapacitate the enemy with high decibel sounds, or by its effects on the central nervous system.

Such experiments, if they succeed, would turn police lights into virtual weapons. However, even in its present day incarnation, police lights can temporarily double as a club or hammer with which a policeman can save him when stuck in a difficult bottleneck.
