Termite Prevention Steps - Keep Termites Away

Prevention is always better than cure. This is the case even with termites. The most important ingredients that these termites require to survive are moisture and wood. You need to first identify such areas around your home that provides adequate survival conditions for these termites. Termite prevention begins at this. Once you identify them then, make sure you get rid of them. Once this is done then make sure that they do not return back.

If you find termites infesting slabs of wood anywhere, the best termite prevention step that you can follow is to burn up the wood completely. If you have any trees or shrubs in and around your house make sure that you have them treated. Tree stumps need to be removed immediately to make sure that they do not provide a resting place for these termites.

Renovation of your house can cause you several problems if you have buried the scrap wood around your house. This will lead to termites infecting them first and then slowly making way into your house. Another important termite prevention step involves the sealing of cracks that develops in the ground.

Termite prevention is possible if you keep your home well ventilated, especially the attics. If your rooms do not have the right circulation of air, moisture can result and this is something that will attract the termites. You should never allow water to be stored anywhere around as this will cause serious troubles to your homes.

Termite prevention must be done before construction of your house. If you have plans for plenty of wooden structures, make sure you use treated wood. One such treated wood is called borate wood which will prevent the termites from attacking them as food. Avoid the wood in your home from having contact with the earth. This will give a very easy entrance to the termites.
