Home tuition unlike traditional schooling, is not all about books, tests, curriculum or achievements rather; it is about love, change growth and enlightenment for both the children and the parents. Some famous accomplished people who home schooled or tutored at home includes; Alexander Graham Bell, Albert Einstein, Agatha Christie, Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill and many more others.
Home tuition basically refers to the process in which a child or children of not more than two families are instructed by parents or legal guardians or a member of either families or a hired tutor who instructs them at their homes. The law that defines home tuition differs from country to country and so are the legal requirements. Today’s typical home tuition student is not motivated by religion, rather by the necessity to have a sound education. For many students, the actual learning starts before school as we know it. Many children already know their alphabet, animal names, colours and other stuff long before they reach school. This is usually due to some hard work being done by an active member of the family who has taken time to teach the kid. Home tuition becomes a natural progression from here. Instead of sending the kid to a normal private or public school, the parent or who ever has taken the tutoring role make their own curriculum and teaches the child in ways that best suits them.
Before you embark on home tutoring your child, there are certain important matters that needs your immediate consideration. First of all, meet parents of other home schooled kids and learn from their experiences. Find out the advantages and disadvantages of home tutoring. You should be sure of the best approach to take so that your kids gain fully from which ever method you adopt. The success of the whole programs depends on clarity and sincerity of your tutoring calling.
The next thing to consider is the expenses associated with home tutoring. Home tuition may cost a few hundred dollars to some thousands per every year depending on the method of tuition taken. If you do it yourself as a parent, the cost will only be on the learning materials you use to teach, but if you engage a professional tutor, the cost will increase dramatically. For a parent who decides to embark on home tutoring themselves, any other jobs opportunities are effectively shut out. The parent will obviously have to stay at home to fully manage the home tuitions.
The question about whether you are really qualified to take on homeschooling for your children will always arise. Teaching itself is a continuous learning process which involves the tutor and the student themselves. So the question about whether you can teach should never arise. With the onset of the Internet, getting information has never been so easy. There are various books and resources available for those who are interested in home tuition. Go through the numerous approaches of homeschooling and choose the one that is the most suitable for your case. If you are aware of the learning style that best suits your kid, then go for it. But before you start, find out how your child feels about home tuition.
Every country on earth has its own laws regarding home tuition. For some, you must first file a 'Notice of Intent' to start a home school. In this case you must mention if the school is a 'Private Church' school or a 'qualified non-public school' .The person whose intent is to teach at home must at least have a high school diploma. Child's full attendance and disease immunization records must be fully maintained. At the end of every year, the child must take a standardized test. If the child has reached the eleventh grade, they must sit for a nationally standardized test. This is especially true, if the kid is from North Carolina State of United States.
There are many benefits associated with home tuition, though they are some problems attached to it. It may seem a lot fun and freedom from outside but homeschooling is not for the faint hearted. Things are seldom simple as they appears from the outside, home tuition is a lot of added responsibilities and hard for the parent as well as for the tutor. But if successful a lot of love and respect is forged between the child and the parent, at the same time providing your kid with the best tuition available anywhere in the word.
