There is a range of option in accommodation available in the major cities in the country and you need to choose the one that suits you the best. Depending on your individual preferences, you can opt for hotels, apartments, bed and breakfasts or private houses.
Hotels
Hotels are the most popular form of accommodation for travellers around the world and France is no exception. Hotels in Paris and other major cities are rate 3, 4 and 5 stars depending on the level of service and luxury provided by them. Double rooms in 3 star hotels in Paris cost from approximately 100 euros upwards while similar rooms in 4 star hotels are available upwards of 200 euros. If you are looking for pure luxury (and can afford it), head to one of the 5 star hotels where a double room can set you back by approximately 300 euros.
Apartments
You can rent studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments in Paris and other major cities. These can be rented for short or long term and there are some general rental conditions that have to be kept in mind. These conditions include:
• Minimum stay: 3 nights.
• Arrival any day of the week.
• Payment: 25 % (or 50% for long-term rental) deposit is required to confirm booking (of which 200 A$ are non-refundable).
• Balance is due 60 days prior arrival.
• Cancellation:
- A$ 200 booking fee is non-refundable
- 50 % cancellation fee applies between 60 and 30 days prior to arrival.
- 100 % cancellation fee applies for 29 days and less prior to arrival.
• No refund for no show or anticipated departure.
• Taxes are included
• Check-in formalities: ID and credit card details are needed. Tenant is required to sign a deposit upon arrival.
Private property
You can also look for one of the various Australian owned properties for rent in France. This gives you an opportunity to deal directly with the owners and benefit from their local knowledge.
