We all have our favourite sports and no doubt, every one of us is very similar in that we would all dearly love to emulate our favourite proponent of whichever sport holds our affections. Deep down though, most of us know that we will never really get a chance to fulfil these dreams; but the other day I had an opportunity to do just that…naturally I grabbed the chance with both hands.
I had been looking to get away for a brief sabbatical as I had been putting in a great many hours at work to prepare for the yearly audit; with my preparations now completed though, the way was clear to get away for a well deserved Weekend Break I wanted a bit more for my weekend break though, than just sitting about and it was during my search for just such an option that I came across a specialist weekend break that would satisfy my requirements and give me a chance to emulate my favourite sports hero…a weekend golfing break.
Now my favourite golfer is Colin Montgomerie; a real old time golfer who still holds his own and my weekend break package gave me the opportunity to play on a championship course for two days as well as including a two night stay in a luxury hotel within the grounds of the course.
The venue that I chose was the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel & Country Club, firstly because of its magnificent course but also importantly, because Colin Montgomerie has played here several times. The long 18 hole course is set within a staggeringly beautiful 200 acres of ancient deer parkland and is a great challenge for golfers of all abilities. One of the best features though (a hard call to make considering that everything was great) was that included within the package was a guarantee of prime tee times and sure enough, at 10 O’clock on the morning of my arrival, I teed off from the first hole.
So how did I do?
Well, let’s just say that Colin Montgomerie hasn’t got any real competition just yet, but I had had a superb time on my weekend break; I had emulated my hero, I had improved my game no end and I had come back relaxed and refreshed…and of course, ready for another weekend golfing break as soon as possible!

Treat yourself to Some Time Out
By: Katy Bailey | 17/06/2008 | HotelsThe other day I was privy to something quite surprising and rather insightful; it was during a coffee break at work when I was relaxing with my brew, that I overheard a few colleagues engaging in one of those usual coffee break/have a grumble/get back to work sessions and it was at that instant when the moment of insight came. I realised that almost all of us follow this routine to some extent, often complaining of being tired and overworked…but then just carrying on without ever doing anything.
