Budget Hotel in Melaka, Malaysia

With the listing of Melaka into UNESCO World Heritage list, budget hotel has started to blossom all around the city. The City Council has received a lot of planning application to convert uses of building into budget hotel and rest house. You can easily find a room for just RM45 per/night in the core zone. 'Harmony Street' which consist of Jalan Tokong, Jalan Tukang Besi and Jalan Tukang Emas, already have about three budget hotel, which is very convenient for travellers planning to get the taste and 'feel' of living in the old streets of Melaka.

For people who would like to experience a little more comfort, plus uniqueness of old Melaka shophouses and heritage, then Hotel Puri, along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, is the place where you should be. But make sure you book early, this place is a popular choice among travellers. The rate, maybe slightly higher than those of 'Harmony Street', about RM98 pernight.

Just opposite Hotel Puri, you will find Baba House. This is another good choice beside Hotel Puri and Heeren House, which is all along the same stretch.

I recommend you guys to find a nice place to sleep within this area. As you spend the night walking at Jonker Walk and exploring each individual building and the historic landscape of Melaka, it is always good to find your room in nearby area.

At the moment, cycling is not a good option, as the road is getting much busier with increasing volume of vehicle, especially in the narrow roads in the core area.

The nearest location in the buffer zones where you can find these budget hotel is in Melaka Raya which is next to the Newton Food Court. Go and look for Mansur Hotel. It's cheap. The hotel groundfloor is a restaurant and opposite the hotel, is a convenient shop where you can buy all the tit bits and stuff. Moreover, it is just about 200 meters walking distant to Jonker Street, or clock tower area, 5 minute to the nearest ATM in Dataran Pahlawan shopping mall and plaza Mahkota.
