Edinburgh is a city well worth considering as a holiday destination. Scotland's capital is a well known tourist destination, and is among the best cities to visit with its many historic attractions and superb culture. There are a variety of things to do and see in Edinburgh, including:
Edinburgh castle: This is probably the more popular and better known attractions of Edinburgh. It is a host of the annual military tattoo, and is excellent for its festivals. The castle itself is free to explore and is worth a visit, there's also the opportunity to roam the castle with a guide, who will give you a good insight into the history of the castle and what each part was used for. The castle is an excellent view point of the city of Edinburgh and the princess street gardens.
Festivals: As mentioned, Edinburgh is an excellent host to a variety of festivals that run throughout the year; these are run not only in the Edinburgh castle but all over the city. The largest event is the International Fringe festival. This festival has a few free shows and a few paid shows. It is well worth a visit as it is a great place to see new and upcoming performers.
Parliament: The Scottish parliament can be found at Holyrood. The architect of the building itself is different to what you would expect. The design has taken on a more modern feel than a traditional Edinburgh style one, however it is still worth a visit as it is free to enter and explore.
Botanic gardens: Another excellent place you can visit is the Botanic gardens, just like the castle and parliament, it is free to enter and explore. It is among the oldest gardens in the U.K and is great for a relaxing family day out.
Zoo: Another must see, is the Edinburgh zoo. It is one of Edinburgh's most popular tourist attractions. It’s a stone throw from the city centre and is the only zoo in great Britain where you can see koala bears.
An Edinburgh trip can't be fully experienced in a day, so book a room in one of the hotels in Edinburgh. Save some money on Edinburgh hotels when you compare Edinburgh hotels online.

Having to walk up and down corridors to get to each other’s rooms for a chat in your dressing gown is not always just right, and if you were all to stay in a large, single room, then chances are it will be cramped and you’ll end up getting on each other’s nerves.
