The Bangkok Skytrain was launched for the first time on the birthday of HM King, on Dec. 5th 1999. For the routinely crammed-for-space Bangkok, the Skytrain turned out to be like a boon. Life has now become very easier for the millions of the city’s residents with the Bangkok Skytrain. This mass transport public system is very efficient, clean, and comparatively cheap, providing for a quick transport mode across the city at affordable rates.
The Bangkok Skytrain stations are adequate to cater to typical traveler requirements. They have many different kiosks that offer food items, and coffee, and also a vast range of other products like mobiles. Now, with the advent of the computerized automated ticket system, more time can be saved. You would however need to pay out the exact change. An enjoyable aspect of using the Bangkok Skytrain is that you can get an awesome feel and view of the Bangkok city.
The system is still not perfect though, as the unending flight of stairs to the train can be quite intimidating and deterrent to the senior and disabled passengers. This is a problem that can be solved though, by use of elevators. Currently Bangkok is negotiating on the installation of such fast elevators.
The rates for a typical train journey are relatively affordable and are around 10 (25c) and 30 Baht (75c) for a short transit. Frequent travelers can take out passes and value cards.
People living in central Bangkok mostly travel by the Bangkok Skytrain now. Using the cab or other road transport service is a thought most of these people would never even remotely entertain. The Bangkok Skytrain is the best choice, speedy, and very easy on the pocket too.
Visitors to Bangkok will enjoy the convenience offered by the Bangkok Skytrain, as they go around sightseeing and adventuring. As a visitor, no matter where you go and what you do, you need a place to rest and enjoy a comfortable night's sleep. If you intend to stay for a longer time period, your best option is a Bangkok apartment. A Bangkok service apartment will give you the comfort, services, facilities and affordability necessary for long-term stays.
