Gran Melia Mexico Reforma Made My Second Trip to Mexico City Unforgettable

I recently made my second trip to Mexico City. Like all cities, Mexico City, was a more appreciable experience the second time. Whether this was do to my familiarity with my surroundings this time around, or simply the amazing treatment I received, one thing is certain, it was made better all around by my stay at

the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma.

Mexico City is truly one of the world’s most exciting travel destinations. It is the largest city in the world, as well as being the financial, cultural, and political epicenter of Mexico, and Latin America in general.

Paseo de la Reforma is the city's main thoroughfare. It is part of the reason Mexico City has been referred to as the "Manhattan" of Latin America. This elegant street is lined with dozens of beautiful monuments, including the Independence Monument, which has become a trademark of Mexico City. Sharing space along Paseo de la Reforma are high-rise office buildings, embassies, hotels, colonial mansions, and shaded pedestrian promenades.

Among these buildings is one of the finest of all the Mexico City hotels, the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma. Built in an elegant, modern style, the hotel's impressive 20-story atrium-style lobby features a monumental abstract sculpture, seating areas enclosed in brass-ribbed gazebos and a classic European flair. Gran Melia Mexico Reforma is a Sol Melia brand hotel, and this can be seen in its attention to detail.

The hotel, like all Sol Melia properties, has modern facilities and boasts first class service. From amazing dining options to a spa that is second to none in Mexico, Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma offers guests every comfort imaginable.

Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma, located on the recently renovated Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, near the financial, cultural and historic district and with convenient access to the Polanco and Santa Fe business areas, is the perfect place to stay for anyone visiting Mexico City for pleasure or business. My stay was for a bit of both, and it served me wonderfully in this dual function.

The hotel itself is just 12 miles from the international airport and 31 miles from the pyramids of Teotihuacán. Everything is at your fingertips when you stay at the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma, a fact which made my vacation as convenient as it was comfortable.

When it came time to dine I didn’t even need to leave the property. Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma offers several first class restaurants in Mexico City that offer guests the very best in Mexican and international cuisine. The Sol Melia concept of service flows into the restaurants as the amazing dishes are accented by exceptional treatment by the staff. May I suggest the paella at L’Albufera, it was sold to me as “the best paella in Mexico City”, and it did not disappoint. L’Albufera is one of the Mexico City restaurants you must visit when in this ancient city.

I took the hotel concierge’s advice and spent one of my afternoons at the Museo Franz Mayer. The building itself is a piece of history dating back to the 16th century. It has been beautifully restored, and now houses exquisite colonial-era art and rare items accumulated by Mayer himself and donated to the people of México. This museum features mostly functional pieces, such as furniture, watches, trunks, utensils and altarpieces. This amazing personal collection is on par with the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Fl, which is one of my favorite museums in the entire United States.

Back at the hotel I decided to indulge in some time at the spa. Gran Melia Mexico Reforma was the first spa in Mexico to receive official Mexican Spa Certification. This is just one way that you can tell you will be getting the pinnacle of spa service when you enter the spa at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma.

From www.GranMeliaMexicoReforma.com:

Located on the ninth floor, the Spa features six massage rooms, a relaxing living room, a sauna and steam bath, a full-service beauty parlor, as well as a state of the art gym overlooking the city. Featured treatments include Shiatsu massage, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, and facial treatments. The Spa also has an elegant heated pool with an artificial current, and three semicircular spa tubs. The pool area is enclosed by a glass solarium roof for an outdoor feel in the middle of the city.

The experience is as amazing as they make it sound. I have never experienced spa treatment sessions like the services at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma, and I have been to spas around the world. It is truly one of the most relaxing day spas in Mexico.

In a short description, my journey to Mexico City was an amazing experience I will never forget. I have the staff at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma largely to thank for that. Hopefully they can make my third trip to this impressive city just as amazing.
