You know a city is special when it has its own song and New York is exactly that; Special.
The city is divided into 5 boroughs; The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island and with 3 airports in New York (LaGuardia, JFK and Newark) you can choose where you start your journey.
Each borough has its attractions and there is sure to be something that takes your fancy in each individual one. Manhattan is home to many corporate headquarters as well as stylish hotels and exquisite restaurants and is home the United Nations and Madison Square Garden. For those who love the theatre, Times Square and Theatre District are part of the Broadway experience and of course, the Statue of Liberty.
Brooklyn is the most populous of the 5 boroughs, a great way of seeing the whole borough is to take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge where the view is amazing and you can take in all the sights. Places to visit include the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which is the oldest operating performance arts centre in America, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden which is a peaceful oasis of speciality gardens.
Queens is cultural destination with around 15 different nationalities living in or around the area. P.S 1 Contemporary Art Centre, Socrates Sculpture Park and the Noguchi Museum are all places worth visiting. If you are a film fan then the Museum of the Moving Image has to be on the itinerary, the museum educates visitors about the art, technology and history of film and television. Queens is just one place where you might choose to stay but with so many hotels in New York available, choosing is the hard part.
The Bronx has many botanical gardens for people to visit as well as a world famous zoo called, imaginatively, “The Bronx Zoo”, fantastic beaches and its very own Little Italy. The Bronx has superb restaurants and great nightlife for those looking to let loose at night. Last but by no means least is Staten Island, which is home to some of the most impressive museums you are likely to see, including “Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art” and the “Alice Austen House Museum” which is a favourite amongst photographers.
