Tourist chiefs have begun a campaign to encourage tourists to travel and experience culture during holidays in England.

Every year the UK attracts a plethora of tourists from different cultures to its shores.

With renowned museums and art galleries, its booming music scene and a whole host of picturesque countryside locations, the UK remains a popular tourist destination for a wide range of nationalities.

The ‘Culture ‘08’ scheme is aiming to showcase the wide range of cultural attractions, events and destinations that the country can provide, in an attempt to inspire Britons to embark on, and enjoy, cultural holidays.

And as Liverpool prepares to attract over two million additional visitors to its rich history and world famous landmarks and hotels through its Capital of Culture reign, there has never been a better time to experience the wide range of experiences that the UK can provide.

According to a leading tourism authority, over 63% of potential visitors to the UK are likely visit galleries and museums. Live music concerts also help to attract over half of visitors, with more than a third of those visitors opting to visit the theatre or opera.

With a wide range of accommodation dotted around the country, from youth hostels and acres of camping grounds, luxurious hotels located within bustling city environments, to quaint little holiday cottages surrounded by picturesque countryside, the choice of location is endless for tourists.

With London due to take the torch from Beijing, following the upcoming Olympic Games, which will be followed by a four-year program to help promote the culture of the country in the run-up to hosting the Olympics in 2012.
