Not to be Missed Sites in and Around Milan

With fashionable restaurants, designer shops, chic bars and stylish galleries - Milan is more of a lifestyle than a city. Milan’s cosmopolitan vibe comes from its history – being German, French, Austrian and Spanish for much of its history, before becoming part of Italy in 1860.

Shopping is a major part of the culture in Milan. One of the top European shopping destinations, fashion is big business. While most people will have to make do with window shopping in the top-of the range stores of the Quadrilatero d’Oro, there are plenty more reasonably priced stores on Corso Buenos Aires.

The grand Duomo Cathedral towers over the impressive square in central Milan. Well worth a visit, the Duomo is the worlds fourth largest church and the view from the roof is the city’s finest.

Milan is a safe and easy city to navigate around, with the help of a good public transport system, regular trams mean you can hop on and off at the cities main shops and sites.

Milan is also perfectly placed to access the many other stunning areas of Italy. The nature of this diverse country means that there’s a never ending list of places to go and things to see. Why not take a daytrip to Venice, which is easily accessible on the train and before you know it you can be on a relaxing Gondola ride. Alternatively, the stunning Lake Como is also do-able in a daytrip. The coast, and the Alps are all within easy reaching distance from Milan. Click here for hotels in Milan

Treat yourself to Some Time Out

By: Katy Bailey | 17/06/2008 | Hotels
The other day I was privy to something quite surprising and rather insightful; it was during a coffee break at work when I was relaxing with my brew, that I overheard a few colleagues engaging in one of those usual coffee break/have a grumble/get back to work sessions and it was at that instant when the moment of insight came. I realised that almost all of us follow this routine to some extent, often complaining of being tired and overworked…but then just carrying on without ever doing anything.
