Splendor Named Port Douglas

Port Douglas is an iconic tourist destination of Australia. It is a splendid town in Far North Queensland, just north of Cairns. Port Douglas is adjacent to two World Heritage sites, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rain forest and abounds in plentiful of sight seeing spots.

Port Douglas, has undergone a sea change in the last century, battered by cyclone in early 1900s, it came out of the shadow of a being a fishing village to emerge as a tourist destination by 1980s. All what Port Douglas became and is now, is thanks to the initiative taken by late Christopher Charles Skase, an Australian businessman.

Christopher Skase financed the construction of the world-class Sheraton Mirage hotel, this  Port Douglas hotel was then among the largest in Australia and Skase played a key role in putting this small town on the international tourist map.
