Sydney, a Unique Traveling Destination

Sydney is an extraordinary city, not only because it has some of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere in the world, but also for the friendly, and it has to be said, quirky locals. If you are planning a visit to the Australian city, then you can be sure you will make some friends, have an adventure and have people back at home laughing at your travel stories.

The two main attractions that draw the crowds to Sydney are the amazing Opera House, and Sydney Harbour which divides the city up into northern and southern sectors. Central Sydney starts at Circular Quay and stretches right up to Central Station, and the vibrant and energetic atmosphere stretches down to Chinatown and the emergent Spanish Quarter near Liverpool Street.

Darling Harbour has seen major improvements over the last few years and major attractions to look out for are the Harbourside Center, Cockle Bay Wharf and King St Wharf. This is a great place to hang out and sit at a trendy restaurant or café or stylish bar before exploring the many shops and boutiques.

Sydney is unquestionably a travellers paradise, and with the international airport nearby, the starting point for many people to other remote parts of the country. The hordes of backpackers arriving weekly bring a young feel to the city, and along with the interesting locals you can literally feel the electricity in the air, whatever the time of year. Look online for cheap hotels in Sydney and book before you go for convenience and ease.

You can be at ease in a city like Sydney as it is a relatively easy-going place where people go to chill out and have a good time. If you find yourself here for a few days or are passing through on your way to somewhere quieter, then you have to experience some of the nightlife before moving on.

We all know that the Aussies like to have a beer or two and the number of bars and clubs will prove this. There are heaps of pubs to meet up with fellow travellers and many of them are packed with local students and travellers. Venues offer promotions with cheap drinks to pull in the punters and places are really popular at happy hour. Most people head to the areas of Woolloomooloo and The Rocks, or if you really want to soak up the atmosphere of Australia, then try a beachside bar at the famous Bondi beach and Coogee.

If live music is your thing then you won’t be disappointed. There are numerous live music joints with a selection of rock, jazz, alternative, and local bands appearing at certain venues. Nightlife in Sydney isn’t only for budget travellers and students though, there are also a rising number of stylish and elegant bars, particularly in the areas of Darlinghurst and Surry Hills. The summer evenings are buzzing with people filling the gardens and streets around the bars and the ultra trendy mix with the tourists to hang out and people watch.

Kings Cross is well known for its fashionable bars and clubbing venues, located next door to strip joints and sex shops the area has an interesting and eclectic mix of people. There are heaps of different kinds of clubs in Sydney and it is the best city in Australia to go clubbing. Bars and clubs are open until the early hours and you will find the atmosphere sociable and welcoming. There are all standards of hotels in Sydney so you can be sure to find something that will fit your budget and taste.

The Mardi Gras is a huge yearly gay and lesbian event that features arts, serious partying and the legendary night-time parade through the heart of the city. It all happens around Oxford Street with the harbour party and Mardi Gras party beside the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The summer is the best time to be in Sydney and along with the festival you can relax at the beach, and familiarize yourself with this multi-ethnic, liberal location, its fantastic cuisine and architecture.
