Pioneering the concept of traditional hospitality, the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and its subsidiary companies, together referred to as Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, has created a niche for itself among the finest hotel companies in Asia. The company was started under the supervision of Mr. Jamsetji N. Tata, the founder of the Tata Group. The concerted effort of the leader and his team led to the opening of the first property under the flagship of Taj group of hotels –India in 1903.

It was the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Bombay with which the dream of Taj Group Hotels India was first realized. Today, this luxury Taj hotel has become identical with Indian hospitality and its fundamental ethics of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ i.e. ‘guests are god’. The journey, which the company had taken up long years back, has achieved glory and success with setting many benchmarks for itself and others who belong to the field of hospitality and tourism.

Over 100 years old in the hospitality sector, the Hotel Taj Group India has gifted nation with more than 60 hotels spread across its 45 cities and towns. The ambitious plans of the company however did not keep it restricted to its native land only. The venture marked with untiring enthusiasm moved ahead and explored the foreign destinations like United States of America, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Bhutan, Africa, the Middle East, Sri Lanka and Australia. At present, 15 international hotels under the flagship of the Taj Group are run and maintained in the aforementioned destinations. There is no doubt that the count will keep increasing in days to come with its dedicated plans of expansion and clear vision.
