Develop Your Talents

“The Tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside of us while we live.” – Norman Cousins

“The deepest personal defeat suffered by human beings is constituted by the difference between what one was capable of becoming and what one has in fact become.” – Ashley Montagu

There is a difference between simply existing and truly living. There is a distinction between simply surviving and really thriving. The sad thing is that most of the people have lost sight of the human gifts that lie within them and have resigned themselves to spending the best years of their lives watching television or doing errands and see the life go by helplessly.

Everyone is aware that there is an abundance of potential and ability just waiting to be awakened if one allows it to see the light of day. An employee who dreams to become an officer cannot automatically become an officer by virtue of his qualifications, experience and seniority. He needs to recognize his talent, attributes, characteristics which he has and work his way through ceaselessly to get to that position. There should not be an element of doubt when one is going through the process.

In life, we see the contrary. Many people spend more time focusing on their weaknesses rather than developing their strengths. They strongly believe that they have a particular weakness and accordingly do not make any attempt to harness those talents which they have. By concentrating on what they don’t have, they neglect the talents they do have. The greatest people who have gone before us all had a simple methodology that ensured their success; they knew themselves well. They made the time to reflect on their core abilities – those special qualities that made them unique – and spent the rest of their lives refining and expanding them. By using the talents one has regularly, consistently, ceaselessly he ultimately becomes / titled as a genius.

Everyone of use, are endowed with the capacity for genius. Perhaps one has not taken out enough time to discover what one’s personal gifts are and then hone them to the level where one is considered and treated as brilliant.

Are you using the best within you to its fullest capacity? If not, you are not only doing yourself a disservice, you are doing the world at large, and all those within it who could benefit from your unique talents, a disservice.

“The weakest among us has a gift, however seemingly trivial, which is peculiar to him and which worthily used will be a gift also to his race.”- Ruskin.

The department of HR is considered to be successful only when the employees on its rolls are able to exhibit their talents fully by discharging their functions in their respective departments regularly to fulfill their customer’s expectations. In other words, the great organizations are those organizations where all the employees who are on the pay roll not only make their efforts to fulfill the customer’s needs and expectations but make all out efforts to delight & amaze the customers and this can be done only by the HR specialists / Man Managers who make these employees believe and realize in their talents and stretch them to such a level that both organization and employee benefits.

“The weakest among us has a gift, however seemingly trivial, which is peculiar to him and which worthily used will be a gift also to his race.”- Ruskin.
