A service level agreement, often referred as SLA, defines in how much time the service provider will provide the service. In the context of recruitment process, a service level agreement defines in how much time the position will be filled by the recruiter.
Depending on the industry, the SLA varies. It may take a company 2 months to get the right CEO, whereas it may need to fill a help desk position in hours. Once the position is open, it is best to fill the position with right candidates, with speed. Speed matters for a number of reasons, which are as follows:
1. You could possibly lose 90% of the high demand candidates very quickly. To get quality candidates in the pipeline, you have got to be fast.
2. Without some of the critical personnel, company may lose revenue, so it has got to fill positions with fast speed. For example, an airline company cannot afford to have position of pilots lying vacant for days and weeks as it has a direct impact on their revenue.
3. Sometimes, it takes long time to convince some of the passive candidates to change and join your company. And, when they do make up their mind for a change, if you do not act fast, you would have wasted all the time you took convincing them.
It is important to highlight here that the speed, with compromise in quality, could lead to wrong recruitment that may turn out to be more expensive to the organization. At times, you can afford to be slow in hiring because if you are a good brand, top candidates may be willing to wait till they get an opportunity to work for you. Recruitment tools are meant to provide speed and maintain quality of people by providing information to the recruiters.
Resource Datamine, a recruitment automation tool, provides timely alerts depending on the SLA to the recruiters so that he can close his position in time. In addition, it also provides the necessary MIS to measure the time to fill various positions.

A Teaching Model for Motivation and Productivity
By: Donald N Lombardi | 13/12/2009C.A.R.E.S. is an acronym for a teaching model on motivation and productivity. These are the “hot buttons” that a supervisor must push to get an employee to serve the customer and produce a profit for the employer. This model was built by me in 1972 and has been tested with many companies since that date and has proven to be successful. The model appears as a static page on my blog.

Cost Per Hire Versus Value Per Hire Which Is Most Important
By: Brad Remillard | 12/12/2009The cost of a bad hire rarely impacts an organization, however, the value of a great hire can often transform an organization. As executive recruiters, we hear about the “cost per hire” regularly. It seems like every time HR calls, this topic comes up. However, I would suggest that a far better discussion for HR to have is on the “value per hire.” Having this discussion not with recruiters, but with the CEO is a far more meaningful and beneficial discussion. It not only helps justify that HR co
When an “A” Candidate Isn’t an “A” Employee
By: Brad Remillard | 12/12/2009Has this ever happened? You screened hundreds of resumes, conducted extensive interviews, and found what you believed from the resume and interviews, the candidate that is perfect for the job. Exactly what you are looking for, maybe even better. You have high expectations for this new hire. Then they come on board and fall flat on their face. Within 3 – 6 months you are saying to yourself, “You’re NOT the person I hired” (a great title for a book).
Hope and Luck Are Not A Hiring Process
By: Brad Remillard | 12/12/2009Hiring is one of those processes in many companies that is often ignored, until it is needed. My partner Barry Deutsch and I have spoken to hundreds of CEOs and key executives in the last three years, and there is a theme that most of these CEOs and key executives agree upon, which is, they don’t really have an effective, repeatable hiring process with highly competent people throughout the hiring process.

By: Marcia Prera | 21/05/2008 | Human ResourcesPeople are not an important asset of an organization but the RIGHT people are. It is not always possible to get the right people on job portals. However, they can be brought through the contacts. It is very important to promote the brand so that prospective candidates can approach by themselves.
