The Bible says that the odor of a burnt ram on the altar is an aroma pleasing to the Lord. The odor of the burnt Fat ram, the fat tail, the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh. Notice that the burnt "thigh" should be the right one not the left thigh. If a member of the community sins, he should sacrifices an offering, the priest shall remove all the fat, burn it on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven. Also, the odor of burnt fine flour and oil, together with all the incense on the grain offering, is an aroma pleasing to the Lord.

On the other hand, the Quran says that neither the meat nor the blood of the sacrificed animal reach Allah. It is the devotion from you to Allah that reaches Him. Allah is not looking for meat or blood or the odor of burnt fat or any similar materials.

Allah is only interested of what is inside your heart (faith, willing to do good deeds, etc.)

Literal linguistic definitions of Aroma, Fragrance and Odor:

Aroma is defined as an odor arising from spices, plants, cooking, etc., e.g. an agreeable odor; fragrance. Another definition is a smell that can be perceived by the olfactory nerve e.g., the aroma of garlic and onions. Aroma is also a pleasant characteristic odor, as of a plant, spice, food or roses.

Fragrance is defined as the quality of being fragrant; a sweet or pleasing scent e.g., Perfume, cologne, toilet water, or the like.

Odor is defined as the property of a substance that activates the sense of smell and/or a sensation perceived by the sense of smell; scent.

Scientific definition:

Odor is a chemical suspended in air, usually at a very low concentration, which we recognize by the sense of olfaction. Odors are also called smells, which can refer to both pleasant and unpleasant odors. The terms fragrance, scent, or aroma are used primarily by the food and cosmetic industry to describe a pleasant odor, and is sometimes used to refer to perfumes.

The perception of an odor effect is a two step process; they are physiological and psychological. The physiological part is the sense of the stimulus by receptors in the nose. After that the psychological part follows. The stimuli are processed by our brain which is responsible for smelling. The perception of an odor is an objective process; that is why analytical measure of odor is impossible. While odor feelings are very personal perceptions, individual reactions are related to gender, age, state of health and private affectations. External or uncommon odors such as flavorists and perfumers are usually noticeable to most individuals.

It has been said: tell me what your favorite odor is I will tell you who are you.

The Lord's Favorite Odor in the Bible:

Upon reading 18 different English translations of the Bible I noticed great diverse in translation the "pleasing odor". The different translations are:

New International Version, King James Version, New American Standard Bible, The Message, Amplified Bible, New Living Translation, English Standard Version, Contemporary English Version, New King James Version, 21st Century King James Version, American Standard Version, Young's Literal Translation, Darby Translation, New Life Version, Holman Christian Standard Bible, New International Reader's Version, New International Version – UK and Today's New International Version.

An example of translation of "pleasing odor":

Exodus 29:18, in King James Version.

And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Exodus 29:18 in New International Version

Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire.

The other 16 versions of the Bible translate "pleasing odor" to:

Soothing aroma, Sweet fragrance, The aroma of the sacrifice, The smell of the burning offering pleased God, Soothing aroma, Sweet savor, Sweet odor, Pleasing smell and Their smell was pleasant to the Lord

However, the most correct translation is that of "Amplified Bible" and it is: Pleasing odor; a scent of satisfaction to His heart.

The Lord's Favorite Odor in the Quran:

The verse 37 in Surah 22 talks about the sacrificed animals.

Muslims sacrifice sheep, cows, camels etc to Allah.

Neither the meat nor the blood of these animal reach Allah.

It is the devotion from you that reaches Allah.

Allah is not looking for meat or blood or the odor of burnt fat or any similar materials.

Allah is only interested of what is inside your heart (faith, willing to do good deeds, etc.).

The verse ended up by: "give good news to those who do good".

This good news is for their fate in the Afterlife.

Surah 22:37:

SHAKIR: there does not reach Allah their flesh nor their blood, but to him is acceptable the guarding (against evil) on your part; thus has he made them subservient to you, that you may magnify Allah because he has guided you aright; and give good news to those who do good (to others)

PICKTHAL: their flesh and their food reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth him. thus Have We made them subject unto you that ye may magnify Allah that he hath guided you. And give good tidings (o Muhammad) to the good.

YUSUFALI: it is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches him: he has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for his guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right.

Again, It should be emphasized that Islam consider saying that the Lord has Favorite Odor which is the burnt fat, meat, oil, incense etc, as a big unforgiving offense in respect to the Lord the Almighty Creator.

Anyone who believes that the Lord the Almighty Creator has Favorite Odor which is the burnt fat, meat, oil, incense etc put himself in the category of unbeliever and he is responsible for himself at the Day of Judgment when the Lord the Almighty Creator asks him:" Have I Favorite Odor? What is my Favorite Odor?

Prepare your answer for that big day.

Back to the main topic of my series of articles (1-43); this is my question to you smart readers: "Is the Quran quoted from the Bible "?

What Do the Bible and Quran Say About the Fingerprint?
By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 06/06/2007 | Science
The Bible says: 1)" For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things". 2) Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. 3) Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears. Then he spit and touched the man's tongue, 4) a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, 5) 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist., 6) Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart and do not spend your strength on women. Blood and alter are mentioned in the Bible in seven verses; in them blood is mentioned 12 times and alter is mentioned 15 times. In addition, the finger of God is found in five verses: Dip the finger is found in five verses: On the other hand, the Quran talks about Noah's debates with the unbelievers. This issue of Noah debates with them is not mentioned in the Bible. In addition, the Quran confers the first battle between Muslims and them. In that Battle, the very few Muslims had beaten the many unbelievers. Moreover, the Quran presents the Hypocrites, 1) their parable and 2) their faith, fingertips and rage! Finally, the Quran grants the fingertips (Fingerprint) in the Afterlife! as it says that Allah will restore the fingertips (the fingertips) of the dead. Each one of us has its own fingerprint!

What Nations Which Obtain Woe in the Three Religions?
By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 27/06/2007 | Politics
According to the Bible, there are many Woes to the Israelites (in six verses), Woes to Jerusalem, the bloody city! (In five verses) then there are another five Woes that are allied to the Israelites ; and they are Woes to: 1) the shepherds of Israel, 2) Ephraim (one of the Israelites' tribes), 3) Ariel, the city where David dwelt, 4) Zion and 5) the daughter of Zion. In addition, then there are a dozen of Woes distributed unto 1) Moab, 2) Philistines, 3) Assyrian, 4) the land which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, 5) those who go to Egypt, 6) Babylon, 7) Cherethites!, 8) the land of the Philistines, 9) Unrepentant Cities, 10) Chorazin!, 11) Bethsaida and 12) the multitude of many people. However, the most interesting feature is that there are three Woes (Woe, Woe, and Woe) to the inhabiters of the Earth and to the entire World. On the other hand, the Quran never mentions any specific nation and/or place in relation to Woe. Allah is warning some kinds of people with Woe. Such people may be found in any nation and in any place. Woe to the unbelievers for a terrible punishment, Woe to the unbelievers because of the Fire! , Woe to the unbelievers for their Day which they were promised!, Woe to those who disbelieve for the scene of a Dreadful Day, Woe to the idolaters, Woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day and Woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say: 'This is from Allah, ' in order to gain a small price for it. So Woe to them for what their hands have written, and Woe to them for their earnings.

Does the Lord Rest? in the Sacred Books
By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 09/04/2007 | Aerobics
The Bible declares many times that the Lord our God rest. The Bible says that: God had finished the work by the seventh day; so on the seventh day he rested, the seventh day is holy because on it God rested from all the work, The Lord rested on the seventh day and blessed it and made it holy, The Lord abstained from work and rested, On the seventh day God rested from all his work, the Lord our God rest upon us. Sciences say that many creatures do not rest at all e.g., the heart, the red cells, the white cells, the platelets, the Bacteria, the Fungi, the Sun etc. If you read the Quran to Rest the Lord's case in respect to the question does the Lord Rest? The Quran utters: Rest assured, the Lord does not Rest and He never ever Rest.
