You may be green this Halloween if you choose to hit the party dressed as Count Duckula - but it's your friends that will be even greener as they kick themselves for not dreaming up the idea first.
Most people remember Count Duckula, the iconic vegetarian vampire duck from the late 80s cartoon of the same name. The story focussed on the Count's hapless attempts to seek out fame and fortune, as well as the regular attempts by assistant Igor to turn the green duck into a real vampire instead of a vegetarian one.
Living in a castle that not only has the ability to teleport anywhere in the world but that can also go back in time is a major convenience when it comes to beginning such adventures, and you'll be hard pushed to find someone who grew up in the 80s - or earlier - that does not look back on the cartoon with many a fond memory. Spanning five series that encompassed an impressive 65 episodes, Count Duckula was a much loved character among children and adults alike.
Originally created as a spin off from renowned cartoon DangerMouse, of which Count Duckula was a staple villain, the solo cartoon's individual spin saw the famous duck undergo a botched reincarnation which substituted tomato ketchup for blood - thus bringing Duckula back to life in his more peaceful, vegetarian form, rather than the bloodsucking fiend that appeared alongside DangerMouse and Penfold.
Whichever version of the Count you prefer, one thing's for certain: by dressing up as the iconic cartoon character, you're sure to achieve his longtime dream of fame when you walk into the Halloween party. Not only will you win points amongst friends and friends-to-be for originality, but you'll be able to remind people of one of their favourite British cartoons and bring a smile to many faces.
Complete with cape, duck foot boot covers, a waistcoat and that bright green skin - as well as a mask depicting the face of the famous duck himself, you'll be sure to impress as you strut into the Halloween party, ready to either suck on some blood or some carrot juice, depending on which version of the vampire waterfowl you pick!
Choose a wacky, colourful Count Duckula costume this Halloween and see if you can be a little more successful than the real Count when it comes to grabbing attention.
