I've been in domain of computers/software for around 10 years . These days Android has really caught my attention which according to me is a revolution.
You must have read news about Mobile Spy who are marketing themselves as Spy Software for Android. When i heard about it i thought that some unique software must have been launched but then realized that it's just a basic software which does logging of SMS messages, Call Details and tries to record GPS location which according to my experience doesn't work. The question arises why such basic software is being marketed by a company ?
It's human nature that one always wants to know what other person is doing. These days people are getting more and more insecure and they don't trust even on their loved ones due to one or other reason. So companies like mobile-spy are trying to take advantage of all this and want to make some money by providing basic features and even those doesn't work properly. Following are my points which make Mobile Spy a useless android spy software
SMS logging : Check Android market place and there are quite a few applications which does SMS logging for free then why pay atleast 50 $ for this. Accoring to my experince with Mobile Spy , the SMS logging is not consistent and misses quite a few messages.
Call Logs: Simple records of numbers which doesn't show who was the actual Caller. If a person makes 15 to 30 calls daily, he will be simply lost into numbers because those numbers doesn't show the contact name and there is no log of contacts to match the numbers.
GPS Location: Everybody knows that GPS doesn't work inside doors or in cloud cover. So Mobile Spy is thinking that a person will always be on road and there will always be clear sky. I tested the software and GPS reporting was not stable even in clear skies
Then for what Mobile-Spy is asking for 49.95 USD for just 3 months. I should say just trying to make people fool.
According to me following are features of true spy software for android
- One that can record calls
- One that can record surroundings of phone
- One that can report location even in absence of GPS or in cloud cover
- One that can tell the new number even if SIM is changed
- One that has some mechanism of immediate location reporting like use of a simple SMS
- One that can record all SMS, Call Details, Contacts, Pictures and even web history
- One that can be installed very easily
So on these parameters there is hardly any software which can be called as true android spy product except FlexiSpy and a newcomer called Mobistealth. But FlexiSpy is yet to launch version for Android. So Mobistealth remains to be the only option.
Ideally there should be more competitors so that one or two companies can't exploit people and they are offered best possible services for their hard earned money. But Android seems to be a small market for big players to enter into spying domain. There should also be some mechanism so that companies like Mobile Spy can't make people fool
