Torrents are the popular and familiar way of downloading large volume of data ranging from 1 BYTE to TERABYTES includes movie, games, etc..

The following are the famous search engines for torrents.

Torrentz.com

The most reliable search engine. It does not have its own torrent database, but it search on the other server database and gives the result, thus the result is with great accuracy and efficient.

Newtorrents.info

Downloading a file with torrent is very cost effective and advantageous especially when downloading files, which are momentarily very popular when many people are started downloading. The reason behind this is that when more people starts downloading the file, the higher speed of downloading

This can be explained with torrent principle

The download sped increases to a large extent because more people download at the same time, the higher speed for everyone. when u are downloading a movie thru a torrent u share your already downloaded part of file to other people, when we start downloading, the application contacts a ‘tracker server’ which coordinates all the other application, From the tracker the application finds out where to download from, which parts have the other users already downloaded and also application informs the tracker about what part you were able to download until now - and by that it gives it at other users' disposal.

There fore

  • torrent is a file
  • with torrents you can download almost everything on the net
  • every file (or set of files) need to have an unique torrent file to download it
  • to download anything through a torrent you need a torrent client

The original Bit Torrent client was written in Python and it has been made open-source.

Problem with torrents

A situation, when the tracker server is not functional may turn up. In that case we can’t begin downloading, but if we have started already, it doesn't have to be necessarily a problem to finish the download .Then there may be no one downloading or sharing but you. Therefore we have nowhere to download from. This happens with old and unpopular torrents.
Theoretically a situation when there is nobody that has the file complete may come up (such user is called "seed" or "seeder") and we simply can't get the whole file together from the parts other users have.

Torrent clients

There is a large amount of free applications that are able to download with torrents.

Download the clients

uTorrent

The most commonly used torrent client. It is very popular for its simplicity, reliability and also its size - only around 200KB. The "u" at the beginning of the name means micro

Azureus

Another very favorite client, written in Java. It is highly customizable, whilst it has no complicated controls. This application is open-source. The program's logo is the Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azure us).

BitSpirit

A client famous for its possibility to download from private trackers without registration. Most commonly used to download from TorrentLeech.org, because this tracker usually provides downloads at amazing speeds

Torrent expressions

ü Seed is an user, which has the file completely downloaded and is sharing it.

ü Peer is every downloading user, that doesn't have the file complete. After finishing the download becomes a seed.

ü Leech is practically the same as peer, sometimes it is a label for a peer with a very low UD ratio.

ü UD ratio is a rate between received and sent amount of data. It is modest to keep this at least on the value 1 (share the same amount you download)

ü Tracker is a server, that co-ordinates downloading of all users.

ü Swarm is a summary of all seeds and peers (so everybody connected to the tracker makes swarm).
