Do You Need Life Insurance for a Non-Working Spouse?

The belief that not everyone needs life insurance is a bit outdated to say the least. Whether you want to think about it or not there is a lot of expense when it comes to dying in this world. This expense will carry over to the next person when you leave and that can mean a lot of undue hardship for that person.  The same is true for the non-working spouse.  If you are a family with a single income then the act of having life insurance for the non-working person is still a very smart move to say the least. This is especially true if the person is the primary care giver of children or other loved ones in the family.

A non-working spouse can pass on just like anyone else in this world and it will cost just as much for the person in line to take on the expenses. So if you are thinking that a life insurance policy is unnecessary in this case then you are sadly mistaken. This can be a case where life insurance is necessary more than ever, if for no other reason then to protect yourself and the other members of the family.  The protection comes in many forms and all of them should be considered when deciding on life insurance or not. This is a matter of some importance as life insurance is one of those things that everyone should have no matter the situation they are currently in.

What a lot of people fail to realize is the hardship that the passing of a spouse can create.  For the most part you will find that the passing will bring about a lot more than simple grief. The expense of a person dying is great.  Now the real matter comes into play with the medical and funeral expenses that a person can incur when someone dies.  In most cases there are thousands of dollars of hospital bills that need to be taken care of when a person dies. This is simply because most health insurance companies will stop paying after so long and so much money. So you are restricted to the amount of expense that you can create and you are responsible for the cost thereafter. If you do not have any kind of life insurance on this person then how are you going to pay for such things?

Then the funeral comes into play. If you have no life insurance then you are the sole responsible party for the funeral and burial expenses. With the average funeral having a price tag of more than ten thousand dollars you would be smart to make sure that you and the non-working spouse are covered for such things. The main point is that death can occur at any time without warning.  If you are putting off the life insurance deal then you should reconsider to say the least.
