Fish and Chip Shop Insurance - Why is it a must?

Having a fish and chip shop is nice. So many people love to eat there and many friendships can begin. With everything going so nicely every day, sometimes the thought of fish and chip shop insurance doesn't enter into our minds.

This insurance was started in the 1980's designed especially to cover any risks involved in running a fish and chip shop. Just because it is a small business doesn't mean that things can go wrong. They can go wrong anywhere, and it's best to be covered. There are different levels of insurance to choose. It's best to cover everything.

Getting shop insurance should include the same things that other insurances cover. That would be any protection against fire, flood, storms, accidents, theft and any public liability. Owning a shop that sells food needs to be covered in case someone would become ill from the food, even though it may not be the shop owner's fault.

Not only is getting shop insurance a must, it is also the law in the United Kingdom for any employer's liability coverage to protect them when an employee is injured because of the employer's negligence. Different policy prices depend upon requirements such as cleaning the ductwork, ventilating systems and extraction canopies. The coverages should include frozen foods and any stock increases due to the season.

Having fish and chip shop insurance, instead of just regular shop insurance, will cover the deep frying fish range. So many potential risks are involved using such a range. Using the frying oils can result in a fire or even an explosion. Not having this insurance is just a foolish risk in itself. It is important to have a shop insurance that covers all of the equipment, records, furnishings, decorations and anything else inside the shop. This is the business contents part of the insurance. Be sure the policy also covers anything that's outside, too. The signs, windows and storefront should be covered. Any repairs needed on these in case of an incident, will then be covered.

The business interruption coverage will compensate the owner for any earnings lost in case the shop needs to be closed during repairs. It will also cover any fan or ventilation failures, supplier problems or public utility loss or damages.

Another element of a good shop insurance policy will be coverage of the goods in transit. If something would happen to the frozen foods on their way to the shop, it would be covered. Be sure and check the policy closely so that this is worded the correct way. Normal content coverage may not protect against transit loss.

If your fish and chip shop makes deliveries, be sure that your driver is covered properly. Be sure that he has a safe driving record without incidents. This will also have an impact on your policy and if you are covered in case he has an accident.
Just like any business, fish and chip shop insurance is necessary. Be sure and cover everything that is needed.
