Are your walls a bore-fest? If so, they don’t need to be. The ‘ fine art’ in adding art on a wall is not what the item is, but what it means to you! You can have a priceless painting on your wall, but unless you really truly love the art – then it is only costly but not valuable. To live a delicious life at home, we need to surround ourselves with items we love – including the walls.
So, want fun ways can you dress up (decorate) your walls with? Here are 3 ways with the added ingredients of ‘fun’
1. WITH PAINT
Try not simply painting your walls with your favorite colors, but try adding patterns on your walls for that extra pizzazz. Add:
- stripes
- circles
- waves
Perhaps not all at the same time, or even on every wall of the room, but do intrigue the eye with a creative flair on a wall using simple patterns that make a huge and fun impact.
2. WITH PICTURES
Why go same-old-route style and hang 8 x 10 or 16 x 20 pictures when you can go greater – bigger - LARGER! Blow up the size of some of your favorite photos (children, pets, vacation, etc.) and hang it up as the ‘work of art’ that it is – your life! Also, you may want to:
- convert pictures to black and white for a classic look and attach to color paper (colors that are complementary to your room), then insert into a black frame
- convert pictures to Warhol colorful tones like the picture attached. A website that can convert your photos to warhol art is www.photowow.com
3. WITH FABRIC:
‘Fun’ your walls with fabric artwork that have colors and patterns that you LOVE! Stretch or pull the fabric over a frame and staple the fabric on the backside. Mix and match colors and patterns that go well with your rooms. If you have left over fabric make toss pillows for your living room sofa, cushions for your dining room, decorative pillows for your bedroom. As for the frame – you can try using:
- plywood (most Home Depot’s could cut a specified size for you)
- corkboard
- foamboard
What makes a wall paint go from ‘nice’ to ‘great’ is the added ingredient of unexpected fun shapes and textures. So, what does your wall say?
