Guess what? There ‘are’ solutions to updating your home without breaking the bank or hyperventilating from the thought of where to even start. The following are simple decorative solutions that can turn an ‘okay’ room or space within your home to a ‘wow – what a difference!”.
There are ways to update your furniture from drab to fabulous instantly. The following makeovers are simple to do and economical. Are you ready for the reveal?
1. Sofa and chairs (fabric/upholstered):
If you are tired of the same old fabric pattern on your sofa or chairs, have stains in your seats, and cannot afford to buy a brand new one then use the designers secret makeover weapon called: operation slipcover to the rescue! Now keep in mind that slipcovers nowadays vary from design as well as fit. You can even turn a traditional looking sofa into a modern style with the right slipcover pattern and fit. www.surefit.net has a great slipcover selections for your sofas and chairs.
2. Lampshades:
Go from zzzz pale color shade to a RADIANT shade by gluing a splash of color onto the shade. Use a ribbon pattern that you love, and glue a ribbon onto the shade with fabric glue. Make sure you spread the glue evenly to avoid gluey bubbles – I like using popsicle sticks to spread the glue .. plus it gives me an excuse to eat popsicles – hey, a decorator has to do what she has to do for the name of great design. Ooooh, the sacrifices that I have to endure. Okay, kidding aside – they do work well!
3. Dining chairs (wood, plastic, metal):
Paint! Paint! Paint and have your chair be a yummy color addition to your meals. Also:
- you can stencil the chairs (with an outline and paint)
- you can apply words to the back of your chairs with simple adhesive letters (different sizez are sold at most Staples)
PLUS: you can change the cushions of your chairs to make your dining room chairs sizzle with your food.
4. Mirrors:
Paint the frames of your mirrors a fun accent color that makes your mirrors pop with excitement within your room! Besides letting the mirror radiate your beauty, let it radiate it’s own beauty with colors that you love.
5. Cabinets:
Stencil away! Now remember that a stencil design does not have to be just flowery; it can be a bird, or a letter (words), or a pattern.. whatever you l-o-v-e.
