Choosing natural stone for your house?

If you have decided to go with the stone, well done.  Natural stone is a material which will never date. There are hundreds of different types of stones found within the mother earth. Over millions of years of geological development,  nature has created each variety of stone with its own unique and special characteristic. Granite, marble, limestone, travertine are four most popular types of stone.

Natural stone in many ways is ideal for any interior. You can find various applications within the home design: interior flooring, walls, vanity units, fireplaces, statues and etc. Natural stone can have polished, antiqued, tumbled or honed finish. Some of the stones aren't recommended as kitchen tops, neither for places that are exposed to acids. Granite would be the best to use as kitchen top.Certain types of stone are suitable for outdoor use.

Stone is well known for its durability, color variations, individuality, and freshness of look and luxury of style. Natural stone is unique, elegant and timeless. So when you bought the stone, please remember that stone needs to be sealed. You need to  protect it from stains and dirt. 3 coats of sealer (some people call it impregnator) would  be enough. With proper maintenance natural stone can last for a very long time. When buying  stone, ask staff for maintenance print-out.

Note that color differences may occur. This is a natural characteristic of every stone. Each natural stone will show color differences, even within the same lot. Depending on the type, the color differences are lighter or darker. If for some reason you don't like constant shade variations, you should consider buying porcelain.
