We all spend a ton of time in the bedroom, and many times the bedroom doubles as an office, a living room, and a bedroom. Because it is so important to us, we have a special need to decorate this room, in a more personal way, than any other room in the house.
A great way to begin decorating the bedroom is to begin with a theme- this could be anything from a color theme to a pirate theme, a garden theme or a modern theme. Then envision how you would like the room to feel or what you are trying to accomplish with your decorating. Is it a place to entertain friends or relax at the end of the day?
When decorating using a theme, there are so many things to think about…paint color, storage, shelving, seating, bedding, etc. One of the newest and most unique theme trends is custom bedding. Custom Bedding allows you to take any picture or design and have it made into your very own, one-of a kind bedding sets. This works great in a bedroom, because it draws the attention to the most important piece of furniture in the room – the bed! It pulls the focus of a large room to the center making it feel cozy, and ties everything together in a small room making it feel spacious. The other great reason to use custom bedding is that it is easily changeable as a young child grows to a teenager or the trends change.
Custom Bedding allows us to change our minds and our décor while still avoiding messy wallpaper that becomes more of an embarrassment when it outdates than the great idea it was when we put it up. It also saves us from painting and repainting those time consuming stencils. Custom bedding works in every decorating situation. Say you started with the walls, picked out the furniture and now you can’t find the right bedding…don’t worry, just design it to match. Or want a musical theme in your room, but don’t know what you would put in it? Just find a picture that you like, design your bedding and work with the colors in the picture to decorate the walls.
So let’s recap, when decorating the bedroom, don’t forget that the most important part of the bedroom is the bed! When you are finished with your custom room, you will not only feel satisfied but you will feel comfortable in the room because it was your own creation.
