Specialty doors offers interior doors and glass doors for homes, lofts, condos,
or apartments.
When you’re looking for beautiful doors to decorate your home, you might want to consider frosted glass doors as one of your choices.
Frosted glass can create wonderful, elegant and contemporary designs on the doors, and the benefit of frosted glass over normal clear glass is that frosted glass is difficult to see through, thus affording some privacy for your office, bedroom, or shower.
Though the glass may be translucent, wonderful light still passes through, and a house full of frosted glass doors can be a very well-light sanctuary, with daylight flooding everywhere. Daylight has been shown to do wonders for your mood and productivity, and also cures depression, so the more daylight the better.
Frosted glass is created by using acid to etch a sheet of clear glass; however, if you are using frosted glass for a door that will be often used (that is, not a shower door), then it is important to get a thicker glass that is more unbreakable.
If your frosted glass door is going to lead to the outside, I would recommend a very thick glass (18 mm to 20 mm) or more unbreakable fiberglass. For interior doors, the frosted glass often has a nice design on them; for instance, with more private office frosted glass doors, most of the door is frosted, with a few lines left clear that form an elegant and curving design.
On the other hand, if less privacy is needed, the opposite type of door can be obtained—use a door that is mostly clear, with some frosted patterns on them to make them more decorative. Frosted glass doors are very versatile, sophisticated, and modern-looking.
If you’re considering installing frosted glass doors inside your home, be sure to consider the function of the door as well as how it would look inside the house.
While frosted glass doors can be used as the material for folding doors, consider the practicality; glass folding upon glass would create a very thick folding door, and that would be extremely inconvenient and difficult to use.
Instead, consider using frosted glass doors for pocket doors or bypass doors; glass is most beautiful and in its element when applied to a sliding door, since it’s difficult to get glass to behave correctly against a wood frame as in conventional wood doors.
Frosted glass doors are also great as pivoting doors, often seen in hotels or restaurants. You can implement pivot doors in your office or home on a smaller scale, and they provide both elegance and a practical way of getting around.
You can use a frosted glass door as the door to your pantry, so that visitors don’t necessarily see everything that is inside, but daylight can flood in from it and into it.
Frosted glass doors are also helpful for showers, because their translucent state will not allow visitors to see inside, but will still allow the flood of daylight that is often missed when in the shower. Frosted glass doors allow much light, and are a great amenity for your home.
