Having Fun Decorating Your Home With Rag Rugs

In the beginning, people(especially women and girls), engaged in a pass time that involved using old pieces of clothing or rags, manipulating them into admirable designs. These designs evolved to find functions to decorate homes. Although the early Americans used rag rugs to seal gapping holes on the cabin walls, it served as a good hobby and a training ground for young girls to learn methods of stitching. They produced warm and attractive products that later evolved to be a serious art in interior decoration. This was the most inexpensive way to acquire a rug to suit your needs. When it comes to enhancing the home, people will never run out of options even if it means going the rag way.

One might think that this is a sub standard way to go but, this is not the case at all. One of the major things that goes into making great rag rugs is creativity. Many companies have taken up this challenge and produce a wide range of rag rugs to meet the demand. With the history attached to them, people are constantly seeking to find these rugs to beautify their homes. Others see them to store a unique piece of history while others are purely collectors. Rags are made from fabrics like wool, silk, cotton and rayon. At home, they are made from old pieces of fabric. Do not mix fabrics because they have different capacities of shrinkage and if you want a softer rug, use materials  that are soft.

Rag rugs range from loom woven to frame woven rag rugs, there is also a huge variety of other forms of these rugs. Tambour rag rugs are among the best looking rugs and they seem so simple to make but, they are actually very complicated to handle. For this reason, they are finding themselves less and less popular. The method is being used to make much smaller items. One can read about many other methods of making the rags. If you are the kind of person who likes to make new things, then you can find a site that will take you step by step until you make your very own rug. The internet has vast resources on these kinds of rugs. You can even view your favorite rugs and get impressed by the colors and thick textures.

I was especially impressed by the personalized shapes and patterns. This can mostly come if you engage in making one for yourself. Some people can be reluctant to try following instructions because they think it might backfire on them. No one is perfect and if you are ready and willing to follow instructions, give it a try. If you are the kind of person who tries all the time but results are horrible, you do not need to remember everything that grandmother used to say. There are proven directions on the internet that can be effective to revamp your creative self. They are one of the most simple ways to make home decorators and are a huge business if one invests their time in it. With a little imagination, you can come up with something that everyone will be asking about. Have fun and decorate your home with rag rugs.
