When it comes to selecting a Houston tile and grout cleaning service there are several options available to the average home owner; not all are equal so let’s explore the pro’s and con’s of each to help you decide what the best options are when it comes to having clean tile and grout.

Do-It-Yourself

Pro’s: Exercise. Nothing beats spending a weekend on your hands and knees with a scrub brush. It is a work-out you won’t soon forget; every muscle in your body will hurt for weeks and your lower back won’t be the same for days…and don’t forget the knee pain!

Con’s: Your floors still won’t be as clean as hiring a professional Houston tile and grout cleaning service plus the cost of the Chiropractic care will offset any potential savings.  Of course, there is also the “yuck factor” and cost of your time. In fact, most people find the DIY method the most expensive option available. Calculate your hourly wage and then compare it against the time it will take you to do the job. For example; if you make $15 dollars an hour and it takes 8 hours (highly likely since you don’t have the proper equipment) then the total cost is $120 for your time alone. Add in the cost of cleaning supplies, equipment rental or other expenses and most people don’t save anything. Investors, landlords and small business owners also are unable to deduct their time as an expense but the full cost of tile and grout cleaning is totally deductible when hiring a company to handle it for you.

Door to Door Solicitations

Pro’s: Prepare to have plenty of time to talk and make a new friend plus you can probably save a bundle over trying to do it yourself. ..at least temporarily.

Con’s: Not licensed. Not bonded. Not Insured. One slip on those wet floors and the six figure settlement will be the most costly tile and grout job you can imagine – or worse – you are letting a total stranger into your home with no idea of what to expect. From robbery to harsh toxic chemicals, all types of potential dangers might be lurking in the background.

Big Name – Local Reputation

Pro’s: Calling a Houston tile and grout cleaning company with a nationwide reputation but local service provider is the best of all worlds. You have the assurance of dealing with qualified, licensed, bonded and insured service technicians with a recognized name you can trust.

But even nationwide tile and grout cleaning companies aren’t created equal. Ask about the service satisfaction guarantee, response time and type of cleaning products used  (for example, it is a good idea to use a Houston tile and grout cleaning service that is committed to environmentally sustainable and non-toxic cleaning products like Kiwi Services of Houston} .
