How to Maintain Clean Pinch Pleat Curtains

Pinch pleat curtains are also called French pleated curtains and are considered one of the more attractive kinds of curtains to be used in the windows of any house. Most people use these kinds of curtains on their windows to add a touch of elegance to their homes and to give them the opportunity to create custom window treatments for their homes.

While buying these curtains, having them made, and installing them are easy enough, one of the tasks that some people dread when it comes to these kinds of curtains is cleaning them or having them cleaned. These kinds of curtains are usually made of heavy fabrics to make them fall the way they do and washing them can be seen as a huge hassle and an unwanted chore for some.

When you need to clean your pinch pleat curtains and to help keep them as good looking as the first day you put them up, you don't really need to launder them all the time, since this will cause them to fade faster than necessary. What you need to do to maintain your pleated curtains is to clean them at least once a week with the use of your standard vacuum cleaner.

Since most vacuum cleaners have telescopic tubes or extensions that you can use to reach higher places with, you can use this along with a brush attachment to slowly clean off your curtains with. Start by working your way from the top to the bottom and develop a pattern that can get you to suck up as much of the dirt and dust that is found on your curtains.

When you vacuum your curtains regularly, you won't see the need to have them laundered as constantly as you think you should and you retain their bright color and not have them fade as much as they would if you laundered them every month. With regular vacuuming, you will only see the need to have your curtains laundered at least once every six months. When you do launder them, make sure that you do not use a harsh detergent as this will fade the fabric quickly as well.
