How To Use Rawhide Country Lamp Shades For Rustic Decor

The unique look of rawhide country lamp shades for use in home decor has been popular since the end of the great depression when women first began to look at their homes in ways other than utilitarian. Enhancing home decor in kitchens, living rooms, family rooms and dens soon became the norm. What is now known as southwest decor and western style, as well as ranch style, developed naturally as the designs sprung from the necessary use of everyday items. The same happened with country style homes. As the wealthy started to buy second homes called country homes, the working class started to use the same techniques in their interior design also.

As antique style lighting were exchanged for the first rural style lamps, it was rawhide that was chosen to be used for lamp shades. Since then, it has been used to enhance western and southwestern style in home lighting and for lighting fixtures. If you truly love the handcrafted work and style of a bygone area, the natural looking style of rawhide will certainly be part of what you want to use in your country kitchen and rustic decorating. There are also other things you can do to create the country look you see in designer magazines.

For a country kitchen, consider decorating with wood. Natural wood, with rough edges and surfaces, is better when using it to create country style. If you have a spacious room, dark woods work well whereas light tones look better in smaller areas. Rawhide country lamp shades look wonderful with wooden accessories and look nice in any area where a floor lamp or rustic lamp would be placed. One fabulous thing about rawhide shades is that they come in light or dark as well as various colors to fit your personal color scheme.

As you consider using rawhide country lamp shades in your home decorating, along with other rustic decorating accessories, it may not be necessary to buy new lamps. Southwestern style lamps are preferable but it is the leather lampshades that create the unique look. It is possible to use lamps you already have by just changing the shade to give it the same country look. Whether you choose to keep the lamps you already have or decide buy new ones, you will be amazed at the transformation that happens in your home.

There is no greater way to incorporate fabulous southwest style in your decorating than by using rustic lamp shades. Include some country style accessories like Indian pottery or Native rugs along with the shades, and you will create a unique style that will have people talking about your beautiful home for a long time. You can find one of a kind, decorative lamp shades in many colors and sizes in stores that sell southwestern and rustic style decorating accessories, or buy them online. If you want to bring the old west to life in your home and create authentic, rustic and western design style, do so by simply decorating with rawhide country lamp shades.
