Designers are looking for different ways to add interest to a home interior. Wall papers and metal wall décor is either old or over used. What designers are looking for is movement, portability and uniqueness.
Custom water fountains provide all of those. Water fountains have movement. They trickle and cascade down glass, mirrored or marble faces and splash over rounded colored stones. An indoor water feature that looks like a cascading wall has movement, color and sound.
Many water features are backlit or have personalized pictures, decals or logos embedded in the face making the whole fountain unique and special. And what is more, they are not expensive.
Fountains are available in many different styles to suit any décor and come in a multitude of colors and materials. The hardest part of having a custom water fountain, is choosing from all the options that are available.
Owning a custom water fountain
Some water fountain owners buy a fountain with no idea of where it will go and how it will look and spend time moving it from place to place like any other piece of furniture. Water fountains are portable, even custom water fountains, and can be moved from one location to another quite easily. The only proviso is a power source.
Before buying a water fountain, it is advisable to know exactly what its function will be. Water fountains do more than just have tumbling water.
They are a focal point for parties and get-togethers. They are conversation pieces because they are unique, particularly if they are customized to display a logo, family name or message.
The cascading waters improve health because of the negative ions that are produced. Many people design a custom water fountain to provide relaxation in a secluded area where they can listen to the quiet murmur of the water as it soothes their troubles away.
When choosing a water fountain, there are several criteria to keep in mind.
Size:
Designing a custom water fountain that is too big may unbalance the rest of the décor. Although the health factor will be good, the aesthetics will not.
A water fountain that is too small will be lost and ineffectual.
Placement:
The custom fountain should be placed where it will gain most impact for the purpose that it will serve. It will also need to be close to a power source so that the cabling can be hidden. It must be secure to avoid damage.
Color:
Modern custom water fountains are available in a myriad of natural colors provided by the materials used such as beautiful bronzes or copper that will take on a greenish patina over the years, giving it its own unique quality. Blue-gray slate, black or mottled marble and stone will help the custom fountain fit into any setting. Glass and mirrors provide an exceptionally exquisite look. Seeing ones own reflections through the cascading water is a strange and pleasant feeling. Glass is both modern and fashionable and a very good choice for an in-home custom water fountain.
