Indoor fountains in the office - are they worth it?

Indoor fountains in the workplace. Is it a sound investment or money down the drain? In recent years more and more businesses have installed indoor fountains in their offices in an attempt to provide a better work environment for the staff, to improve productivity and create a signature for their business but has it worked?

Recent research studies do show that indoor fountains have actually increased productivity in the workplace. Those businesses that took the plunge and invested in indoor fountains in their office and reception areas have seen an improvement in productivity and report less lost time due to sick days.

Does this mean that fountains do actually improve health? Apparently so, water fountains in general, and particularly indoor water fountains provide a number of healthful benefits. It has long been known that negative ions, which are energized by moving water, are great air purifiers.

The result is that cleaner air means better breathing, means better blood circulation because of more oxygen in the blood, and means better brain stimulation. All are good factors in the argument for indoor water fountains in the workplace.

Studies also show that placing the indoor fountain in the foyer or meeting area creates a relaxing and harmonizing environment which is ideal when talking to customers or negotiating terms of contracts. An indoor fountain creates a friendly and relaxing backdrop where business is conducted is very advantageous to the business owner.

Water fountains also create white noise. White noise is a low signal that crosses the frequency spectrum dulling other sounds around it. White noise subdues distracting outside noises allowing the negotiators to be able to concentrate on the task at hand.

The fountain itself need not be a distraction as there are many designs available to allow the water feature to blend into the décor. Many companies are having their indoor fountains customized with their company logo making them even more unique. The water feature does not need to be large. Many designs are very slim allowing them to fit into even the smallest reception area.

If you want to improve the productivity of your staff, improve the atmosphere for meeting clients and customers and create an overall impact, choose an indoor fountain. Place your water fountain where there is a decent air flow, add a few container plants and you have the recipe for your own clean air generator.

All in all, indoor fountains in the office are worth it.
