While US, UK, Singapore etc are all good options, the one place that is fast emerging as the favorite education destination of a lot of Asian students is Australia. Australian universities are fast attracting hordes of students to pursue courses in multiple disciplines and offer world-class education and training facilities to students. Australia also offers a multi-cultural environment to students that let them settle down easily.

Students from other countries get a high standard of education in Australia. Besides this, Australia is a friendly and beautiful destination for students who come from overseas. The universities in Australia offer a wide range of courses to students. There are degree courses, post-graduate diploma course and even research work that one can do in Australia. There are also many professional courses that one can study in Australia. International students and university staff also undertake research or post-doctoral work in Australia. There are many scholarship programmes, and award and exchange arrangements that can facilitate higher studies in Australia.

There are many reasons why international students prefer going to Australia for higher studies over other countries. The first and the foremost reason is that Australian Universities offer to their students a high international standard of education system. The education received in Australia and the degrees, diplomas etc earned here are recognized worldwide. Australia is well connected to all countries in the world especially Asia and South Pacific. The multi-cultural society in Australia makes it very comfortable for students coming from diverse backgrounds to settle down here and assimilate in the Australian society.

The country offers equal opportunities to students coming from English and non-English speaking nations. The beautiful environs of Australia give students a plethora of opportunities to learn and get exposed to a diverse culture. The lifestyle is healthy and relaxed. Sports are given primary importance and international students get ample opportunities to pursue their hobbies and other interests. Financially too, Australia compares favourably with other countries that offer a similar standard of education.

The Australian universities are well-equipped and quite advanced infrastructure-wise. The faculty and academic staff in these universities are of the highest standard and they are recruited from the world over. Most universities in Australia are looking to internationalise their campuses by various student and staff exchange programs. Today, Australian universities enjoy an envious reputation in other countries. Most of the universities rank very high and offer all sorts of facilities and technologies to students.

Students can apply to courses on both under-graduate and post-graduate levels in Australia. At the post graduate level, there are degree courses and many professional diploma and certificate courses. To get admission, Australian universities conduct tests and gauge students’ aptitude. Students with quick grasp and understanding of concepts are preferred as they are expected to participate in class discussions class discussions and raise questions. Universities also offer assistance and counseling to students to develop effective study skills in them. Each university has its own test and assessment criteria to take students in. Sometimes, students are taken in on the basis of their existing qualification for certain courses. While applying, it is advisable to apply to more than one university to ensure admission as the admission system is highly competitive.

Most universities in Australia have a course schedule based on semester system. Generally, the session with the first semester begins in mid February and ends in late June. Second semester starts in mid July and ends in late November. Summer break is given during December to January. There are also mid semester breaks that occur during both semesters in the academic session. This timing is the same at public universities but in the private universities, it may vary slightly.

With a qualification from an Australian university, a student can hope to get a good head start in professional life. Sometimes, students take up part time jobs in Australia to fund their living expenses. The complete education bill cannot be funded with part time jobs so you need to have a dedicated fund set aside to sponsor your education in Australia while a part-time job can provide the extra cushion. You can also apply for scholarships and education loans to study in Australia.
