Affiliate Marketing Network Business: The Importance Of Targeted Traffic

In order to make sales in any Affiliate Marketing Business, you need contact with real people who will take action on your offer. It is often said that driving traffic to your website is like luring potential customers into a brick-and -mortar storefront. If no one shops in your store, you go out of business. Similarly if no one visits your website, there will be no sales and you go out of business. So what is targeted traffic ?

A visitor to your website is considered targeted when he can be identified as a member of your target market. The ability to locate sources of market-specific traffic is crucial in order to generate and direct targeted traffic from your market to your website. In any affiliate marketing system, targeted traffic plays just as large a role in the conversion process as your offer and your sales copy. It is as important to get your offer infront of the right people as it is to make the right offer to them. This is particularly important when you recognize that the person who visits your website must be searching for the solution you offer.

In Internet Marketing Business,the majority of your traffic will consist of prospects-potential customers. You must therefore identify the specific segment of your market that will be most interested in your offer,then generate traffic by advertising to that segment of the market. This requires that one learns how to conduct market research. Your prospects will normally target themselves for you via the keywords they use for web searches. One must therefore learn how to use keywords in order to attract market-specific traffic to your advertisements and content. Keyword selection always begins during the initial market research phase. One should keep a running list of relevant keywords and phrases as you research your market and begin zeroing in on a niche. You will then be able to refer to these later as well as use them as input in keyword search tools to find even more targeted phrases.

In any affiliate Marketing system, there are two types of traffic in terms of timing and effectiveness based on where you are in your business launch. These are shortterm and longterm traffic. Shortterm traffic is traffic that you can generate very quickly,but which may only bring you visitors for a short period of time. The traffic may be shortterm either because it is limited to your list or length of time your budget allows you to engage in an advertising campaign. Longterm traffic methods, on the other hand, require time to pass for your momentum to build. Once this happens, you are assured of getting steady streams of new and repeat traffic without investing extra time or money.

The above defines and outlines the importance of targeted traffic. It also espouses the need for keyword research in targeted traffic generation and recognizes the two types of traffic: Shortterm and Longterm traffic.
