We've all heard people say - "Build a Targeted Opt in List!" If want to have a continuous source of targeted traffic then nothing can be better than an opt-in list. This way the promotion and marketing of your product or affiliate products can go on for years to come without the proverbial hitch.

This is also a great way for small business owners who use the internet to conduct their business. Many a times businesses that have an online presence are under the false impression that the presence of a website is all that is needed to push their business forward.

Well, that is not the case and you do need to use strategies like the opt-in list to take your business to the next level. So just how do you create an Opt in List that not only caters to your niche but also attracts the target audience? Here's how.

Picking/Selecting Your Target Market or Operational Niche

It's all well and good to talk about a Niche. But you need to identify it first up. Without it you just cannot go ahead. You need to figure out who is going to be interested in the products that are up for sale on your website.

If you target the wrong market, then you are done for. For e.g. If you are selling baby's diapers then your target market would be mothers who have just given birth or pregnant women who are stocking up for the birth of their baby. The niche market won't be children, or men!

Online Reach of Target Audience

Can your target market or audience be reached through the Internet? This is the important question to answer. Do a bit of research and find out whether the particular target market that you are focusing on uses the internet for the purpose of purchase.

One of the ways and means that you can bring this about is by keyword search which are related to the target market. The detailed history of keyword usage will give you a good idea about just how many people are searching for your product.

Is this Niche, Making Money for Others?

However hard your try, you will never be the only operator in a particular Niche. This can be a blessing in disguise as you will know just how much money your competitors are raking in, and what are they doing right.

Scan Various Forums

This is one of the best ways that you can find potential subscribers for a specific niche. It's quite easy to search for the forums you want. You can do so using the many search engines available on the Net.

You must make your posting in several forums and add a link to your niche site. Always select a relevant forum. Establish yourself on the forum with a series of articles or problem solving write-ups. Only when there is a degree of trust established, will the audience opt in for your mailing list.

Simple and Direct Response Mini-Site

Your mini-site will generate leads integrated with a follow-up system. Your potential visitors can visit the site and can opt-in with respect to the mailing list. This will enable you to send them product offers as well as help solve their problems related to a specific topic.

Auto Responder Account is a Must

Before your mini-site is operational, you must try and set-up an auto-responder account. Your mini-site, as aforementioned, is going to be the place, which your potential customers are going to access and give their e-mail address and name to you. An auto-responder allows you to keep track of the e-mail list and enables the automatic sending of information to these people on their e-mail addresses.

Baiting Your Potential Customers

It's a fact that people are attracted to freebies. So give your potential customer, an incentive to subscribe to your opt-in list. Offer something, which they might like and will make sure that they submit their e-mail addresses and names on your mini-site.

Last But, Not the Least

You must reach out to the target market in your opt-in list. How do you do that? One way is through writing informational articles on your products and services. You can earn some credibility this way and generate traffic to your mini site.

Another way is to use the services of Pay-Per-Click advertising.
