With so many web design and development companies out there these days it can be overwhelming and choosing a company to handle your project can be a difficult task. I have listed a few tips on what to avoid when choosing a reputable web company:
1. Outsourcing companies
Dealing with a company that outsources design and programming work can be a risky practice, because communication is the key to a good result. If you are not communicating with the developer or designer, it is less likely that the they will have a clear understanding of what you want and therefore the end result may not be what you are after.
2. Own website has flaws
If the company can’t get their own website right, there isn’t much chance for yours. A company’s own website is probably the best indication of the quality that you will get.
3. False portfolio
Don’t trust that a company has created everything in its portfolio. Take a look at some of the sites and check for copyright notices at the bottom of the page. If in doubt, it is usually possible to contact the website owner to confirm who developed their site.
4. Template sites
A template might be a cheaper option, but 9 times out of 10 it will end up looking dull and lifeless. It is highly unlikely that there will be a template which 100% matches your brand, suits the shape of your logo, and caters for the content that you would like to display. A professional web company will custom design an original website to meet all of your needs.
Web design and development can be an expensive process to do twice, so get it right the first time and choose a company that designs and develops their own websites to a high standard.
