Perhaps you have seen the TV show called "Flip This House," but did you know you can also make money online by flipping websites? It is possible. It's an idea that is coming into its own and many people are cashing in on it.
The object is closely akin to its real estate namesake - you buy low and sell high. You build or buy a website, add value to it, build the traffic and then advertise it and sell it. There are reports of Internet marketers making several thousand dollars a month in this niche alone.
You may be thinking that since you have no skill in building websites that leaves you in the dark. But that's not true. Even if you are relatively new to online business opportunities and have no technical skills, there are still opportunities to purchase a cheap site, work on it for a few months, and then resell it. (Very similar to rehabbing a house and reselling it.)
The first step is to research the right niche. You want a subject, or theme, or product that is profitable and hot at the time. You may want to browse through places like eBay, Amazon or Yahoo and see exactly what's going on.
Once you have chosen the just-right niche now it's time to add value. Your improvements should be designed to optimize the site for search engines. Add squeeze pages (landing pages) to build lists, add autoresponder series, research affiliate programs and add them to the content and so on. You may come up with a few original ideas of your own.
EBay certainly saw this need coming, and thus they created a market place called SitePoint where for a nominal fee people can list their sites for sale, or they can choose the option of an auction. Demand is growing at the pace of about 25 percent each month.
Every type of site is included here - dating, entertainment, game sites and even blogs. The market place is wide and varied. Since this venue is still in the beginning growing stages, there is definitely room for the newbie just starting out.
As with all online business opportunities, there is a learning curve and research will be necessary. But if you have an eye for the cutting edge niches, and you enjoy the brisk buy/sell atmosphere, flipping websites may be just the place for you to make money online.
