Provided one is careful to stick within the bounds of best practice, it is possible to gain immense benefits from Forum marketing. We take a look at some of the ground rules, to keep your efforts on track. Concentrate on a small number of forums and gradually become known in those. You'll want to discuss issues where other members share the same interests. By visiting the forums frequently you'll soon be able to draw on your own experiences to make quality contributions. It may take a little while for you to become comfortable with your chosen group of forums, but eventually you will become well known in those that suit you best. Rather go to fewer forums regularly and become well known and accepted in those, than to hang out in too many forums on an irregular basis. Create a signature file to promote your own specialist products. Try to list your own items, rather than those that may be common to the rest of the group. You will soon build up a portfolio of products, and you should promote those in your signature file. Don't include a link to the membership file that is common to everyone else in the forum! It is also preferable to promote a smaller, more select number of your favourite sites, rather than to include too many. Your results will be better if you target a few of your favourites and refer people to those. You will soon gain credibility in the forum as your business experience grows. You will be able to offer solutions to problems that you have personally dealt with. This will give you the opportunity to share quality information with the other members. Remember always that fewer quality contributions will gain you more respect that large numbers of postings which don't add any value to the discussion. You will soon find that you establish a level of credibility if you are seen to be making a valid contribution towards solving members' problems. Never be tempted to spam in any way - it's simply not worth it! Apart from losing what credibility you have built up, you may even be at risk of being banned from the forum. Make sure that your responses are genuinely helpful, and never be tempted to include a "plug" for a product as a part of your contribution. We have looked at some simple ways to gain more from your contrubutions to forum marketing. It is quite possible to use forum marketing as your mainstrean method of internet marketing.Make regular use of this effective marketing tool. You will see that you make long term friends and contacts, and that your traffic stats and sales will also benefit.
