Have you often dreamed of finding a way to construct your own building to house all of your stuff, but figured you couldn’t afford it? Investigate putting up a metal building -- they’re the envy of anyone who wants a place to store their automobile, heavy machinery, or weekend toys, and there are as many different types and styles of metal buildings available as there are different uses for them.
A very popular, inexpensive, and space saving metal structure is the carport. These versatile little structures are made of steel and are available in a number of different sizes. Just pour yourself a concrete slab or find a piece of level ground to put one on and you’re in business. Worried about the installation costs? A lot of companies will even deliver and install one for free.
How big are they? Well, a single wide carport is generally around 12 feet wide, 21 feet long, and about five feet tall. If that isn’t big enough, a carport that can house two vehicles is about six feet wider, or around 18 feet wide. If you are concerned about looks, different roof and eave designs can be ordered for any type of steel building to suit your needs, along with a choice of steel gauge, usually 12 or 14. Want to save some money? The lower the number, the stronger the gauge of steel, but also the higher the cost, making 14 gauge a cheaper option. Metal roofs are usually a lighter 29 gauge of steel.
Need even more customization? Metal carport designs offer the option of things like vertical roof panels which run from the peak side of the carport. These change the looks of it, aid with drainage, and are recommended in areas of heavy rain or snowfall. Other options for design customization include gable ends for the front, back, or both ends of the carport. Different sides can be put on carports to protect from the wind and weather, too. If you are worried about heavy winds, most steel structure companies can also anchor your carport with mobile home anchors or concrete to add stability and safety.
Is a carport a little smaller than you need to store all of your gear? A metal garages may be what you’re looking for, then. The sizes for single and double wide garages are the same as for carports with 12 foot singles, 18 foot doubles, and triple plus sizes of 26 feet wide. These metal garages are usually free standing, so the weight of the structure is displaced onto the side legs, leaving plenty of storage or parking room in the middle. Like their carports cousins, different gauges of steel are available for the roofing, and customization of the sides and gables is an option. Roof designs can also be changes so metal garages can come with rolled corners or an A-frame design with boxed eaves.
Is a garage still not big enough for all of your storage needs? Or maybe you’re an agricultural user of steel buildings. Then a steel barn may be just what you’re looking for. These are also available in a number of different sizes. Metal barns usually consist of a center section with lean-to’s on either or both sides, which can be open, enclosed, or both. There is a great deal of customization options with metal barns, similar to the carport or garage.
Need mega storage or parking space? Metal buildings of up to 40, 50, and 60 feet wide and up to 20 feet tall can hold just about anything. You can contact a metal building company to get a detailed quote and to customize your metal structure to suit your individual needs.
