Seven Ways to Promote Your Email Newsletter

Lots of online businesses make their money from building opt-in email lists of qualified prospects and not from their website. Indeed, in many cases the sole purpose of the company website is simply to encourage visitors to give their email addresses in exchange for specific information, usually in the form of an email newsletter.

When visitors to your website opt in to your list they are giving you permission to email them on a regular basis. This permission-based marketing strategy offers the marketer an excellent opportunity to build customer loyalty. The People on your list have already told you that they want to hear from you, and if you supply them with information that is well written, relevant, and of benefit to them, they will be much more responsive to your sales pitch.

So what are some of the fastest ways to build your opt in list?

First of all you will need to have something of value to offer prospective subscribers to your list, such as an email newsletter or an e-course that they can subscribe to. Once you have your product set up you can promote it in order to build your list.

Here are seven of the best ways to do that:

1. Advertise your email newsletter, tip-sheet or e-course in other people's email newsletters and e-zines. Your ad will reach thousands of prospects, but you will have to pay to advertise.

2. Promote your newsletter on E-zine announcement directories such as Ezine-Dir.com, IdeaMarketers.com, New-List.com, SparkList.com, Subs.Zinester.com and many others.

3. Publishing articles on article directories is a great way to generate targeted traffic to your opt-in page via a link that you can place at the foot of the article along with some information about yourself and your newsletter. Your article may be picked up by Internet marketers who visit the directory in search of fresh copy for their own websites or newsletters.

4. Approach bloggers who blog about your niche market and offer to be a "guest blogger" - each time you post a guest article you can add a short blurb about yourself and a link back to your opt-in page.

5. Join a number of traffic exchanges and make an attractive squeeze page to promote your newsletter on the exchanges.

6. Write an e-book. Advertise it on your opt-in page as a free bonus for new subscribers. Write reviews of the e-book and publish them on blogs and other people's newsletters, with a link back to your opt in page so that people can get a copy of the book - when they join your list!

7. Publish a free sample issue of your newsletter on your website. Doing this shows people that you are confident in the quality of your product. It is a great way to encourage people to sign up will stop.

These are just a few suggestions for promoting your email newsletter. There are many others that you can try as well, such as PPC campaigns, banner ads, classified ads and so on.

Whichever methods you use to promote your e-newsletter, you will not get anywhere if the email newsletter itself is not well written and packed with useful and relevant information.
