Internet is one of the most convenient inventions ever made. A click can take you places where you discover a treasure of files downloadable anytime. However, not all websites are safe. The Internet can also the be a source and vehicle for online scams. One of the most common signs that the website you have visited does Internet scams is when it asks for your personal details. When this happens, be alert and cautious.
Just like any lists of notorious people or occurrence, there is also a list of the top three Internet scams going around the web nowadays. Know what they are and prevent falling victim to any of them. One of these famous scams is the Nigerian scam or known as 419. You will receive an email from a member of a Nigerian family, asking for your help in getting a large amount of money out of their country. There are also other versions like an African barrister helping the family of murdered family in saving their fortune, or a business man wanting to save his investments away from the struggles inside his country.
You will be promised a large sum as long as you aid them in transferring the fund to your account. They can play with your emotions and plead for pity. If you are convinced by their act or tempted by the promised fake money, they can ask you to pay fees and other legal expenses before they transfer your part. You are now victimized as your money flies out of your wallet. Worse, you will never see the promised sum.
Other tempting Internet scams include the lottery scams. Well, who wouldn't be excited and dreamy about winning the jackpot in a lottery? You then think of quitting your job, buying a house, and enjoying life's luxuries. But eventually, these won't last. Internet lottery scams come with a congratulatory email saying you have won a big sum of money. You then need to claim your winnings by providing details and paying processing fees. Stop! Do not allow these con men to rob you of your dollars. Save your money and your mind.
Meanwhile, have you been offered with a job that you simply can't refuse? Sad to say, this may be one of the many employment scams out there in the Internet. Posting your resume in a website that seemed legitimate and having your personal data accessible by many people can actually endanger your chance of finding a legitimate job. This is especially so if the site you have visited is an employment scam site. If you apply for the job, the scammer site will ask for your personal data like your bank account information, identification card numbers, and other data. Once you do this, you lose money even before you get your first salary.
Internet scams will pervade the online scene as long as there are victims unaware of these fraud acts. So educate yourself now and send these scams away.
