Hi, and welcome back.
My name is George Collins and I know that there are a lot of people out there that are looking for ways to really get more people to look at their site. So I wrote some articles and I’m going to share it with you, and it will give you some ideas. So let’s get started.
Communications are changing dramatically and social media has become a large part of our daily lives. From the moment we awaken in the morning to when we close our eyes at night, we are constantly faced with information. Radio and television are things of the past. Even a landline telephone is obsolete in some households, like my kids.
One of the first things we do daily, at home or at work, is turn on the computer to view the latest correspondence or to see what blunders celebrities or common everyday folk have made while we slept. The social media has made celebrities out of the next door neighbor who has a missing wife, an aggressive dog or who wants to live in front of a camera for all to view on the web. Of course it is not all bad. Social media also helps when a child or adult is missing or if a criminal is being sought.
We need to be smart about how we involve ourselves and others with the social media. What we put out there is there forever and cannot be destroyed or taken back. If used wisely, the social media can help us in a plethora of ways. It is a great marketing tool, a way to reach millions of people for low cost and in a short period of time.
We also need to take care not only in the amount of personal information released through social media, but also in the detail. The fact that you can reach so many millions of people worldwide is not only an asset, but can also be a detriment. You don’t know who is on the receiving end of your message, so sensibility must be used when deciding what information we are releasing.
Social media can in a matter of minutes make a person or a product known and sought after by millions of people. Social media has made our world very small and has put the universe at our fingertips. There is a wealth of knowledge out there, but we must know how to use it to our advantage. We need to know how to navigate and negotiate the informational sites. We need to know where the social media has reliable, accurate knowledge and where we could stumble onto erroneous information disguised as fact.
Social Media expertise can only be obtained by familiarity with the medium you are working with, and time spent doing research into websites. Sites such as You Tube and My Space can be loaded with falsehoods. In some cases they have become the “slam books” of the younger generation. For those of you not familiar with the phrase, slam books were usually small notebooks with a persons name written on each page. The notebooks were passed around the school and kids wrote their thoughts about the person listed on that page. Naturally, many unkind thoughts, best left unsaid, were put down in writing and many people were hurt. Fortunately slam books could be destroyed, and we knew what they were intended to do. Not so with today’s social media. Today’s information somehow sounds factual, maybe because of the way it is transmitted, and it can never be destroyed.
What about videos? The social media has made those very dangerous. Not only do we not know who we are communicating with, but they know what we look like if we put our faces, our homes, our street or our families out there. Many people, not thinking about the potential for personal damage, do this to get attention or to make money. Yes, when marketing you want to get attention and you want to make money, but not at the cost of losing your privacy or worse. We have all heard the stories about stalkers, pedophiles, and other unsavory and dangerous characters who roam the net searching for their next victim. Learn to be aware, learn to be alert and intelligent about social media and how to use it for your benefit.
Social media can be a boon to marketing a product. Make sure to jump in with your eyes wide open. Know the pitfalls and learn the advantages of this world wide attention getter.

Saturation is not possible in this day and age. I always hear the question from people, is saturation possible in a business or not. And it can be, depending on what in the world you are doing.
