In contrast, links in regular circumstances almost always have to be paid for in one way or another. Even the seemingly free link exchanges cost something in that you're required to link back to someone else. Participating in this contest is one of those circumstances where it really pays off when you're in touch with a lot of other people online.

The Content Connection

Another defining characteristic of modern link building is the emphasis on content. No matter what niche you're in or strategy you're using, there always has to be at least a smidgen of content there and it had to be related to your own site. Otherwise, there's that risk of being seen as a blackhat SEO practitioner or a link spammer. It's not, however, the same for sulumits retsambew.

First of all, content doesn't seem to be such a big priority for the competition. There have been numerous instances where fluff text, Lorem Ipsum or even empty pages have made it quite high in the standings. Although they're yet to breach the #1 spot, it's an indicator that the intense focus on content in regular SEO wisdom might not apply in this arena.

Secondly, the relationships between the content on pages submitted as entries and those that link to them aren't always there – and it doesn't seem to matter as much. The world of SEO has been buzzing ever since word about Google's latent search indexing (LSI) and relevance rules came out. Yet here the participants are, publishing stories about travel and childcare just to create links to their contest entries.

If you're truly bent on winning sulumits retsambew, you might want to step back and consider your strategy in relation to that of your opponents. You might just be sticking to a route that's too goody two shoes or traditional for this competition, where not all of the old rules apply. It's not like you're selling anything, and you can think of that little circumstance when you're thinking about playing just a wee bit dirty.
