Beginners Guide to Building a Website

If you are seriously looking for a beginners guide to building a website with the hope of going on to build a profitable online business working from home then you’ve come to the right place.
The World Wide Web is growing at a phenomenal rate and there is plenty of room for us all to make nice incomes.

However, be warned friends and family will often advise you not to waste your time and tell you it’s all a big scam, you won’t make any money and that it could cost you an arm and a leg just learning the ropes.
Well my friend they may perhaps have a point as there are many expensive and worthless guides out there but a lot of new internet marketers simply just quit because they can’t be bothered to learn.

Let me ask you this... if you found a good free guide that explained things clearly in non techy terms that could teach you how to build an online business that could last for years to come and possibly make you $250+ per day  would you quit?
I didn’t think you would.

Now let’s take a look at a few things you are going to need and learn about;

• Acquiring and choosing a Domain Name.    
Popular domain companies (registrars) such as GoDaddy and Namecheap will charge on average around $10 per year per domain name.

• Hosting account.

Basically a hosting company is a company that connects your website to the World Wide Web.
There are literally thousands of hosting companies whose packages vary in cost. Typically expect to pay $10-$15 per month for a good host.

• A Web Editor.

A web editor is a piece of software that all hosting companies recognize.
Simply put, a web editor is the software program used to create web pages. It converts the text and content that you will write on your computer – into ‘computer language’ for your web hosting company to understand.
A web editor can be expensive but there are free ones available such as Kompozer which is very good.

• Downloading, saving and unzipping files.

Most files that you will need to download will be zipped files. This basically means the contents have been compressed to make the file smaller and more manageable.
Although it’s quite easy you will need to know how to unzip (extract) these files and furthermore save all the needed files neatly together in a folder for easy access.

• FTP Client.

Don’t be put off by this if you have never heard of it. FTP (File transfer protocol) basically means moving your files from your computer to your hosting company to get them on web.
Once again I would recommend an FTP client such as FileZilla as it’s not only free but easy to use.
